Great topic! My hatch struts lost pressure over this winter and I was grumbling away trying to put the t-tops into the bag (broken teathers also, GRRR) yesterday with the glass resting on my head. Working assists are madatory on these cars. I have a special wood broom handle that works on the hood and hatch. Still remember taking both cars to a show and having to use it to prop the hood on the convertible. Total trailer trash moment.

I picked up a tip while working at a Caddy dealer in 1989. Clamp a pair of vise grips on the hood strut when it's open, if you dont want to take the chance of bending the hood, use a pair on each strut.

You must be serious, the struts are only good for about 4 years.

I put new hood and hatch struts on my car almost 6 years ago (when I got it) and the hatch is still really difficult to pull down with one hand... Hood has no problems staying open either.

I must have got lucky. Razz (Knock on wood)
