I've heard some horrendous stories about blood. And the only time I went there for some advice/pricing they stuck their nose in the air like thirdgens weren't worth their time. Good luck! Very Happy

Well for some reason I can't get the sheet to load up from the disc...
But the bird made 160HP/245LBFT with the AFR just over 12:1 the whole time, and the peak power curve stayed really flat between 3-5K RPM Cool
Now if only I had some more peak power. Rolling Eyes

If the L03 is anything like an LSx/LTx, I would think 12.1:1 AFR's is a bit on the rich side. Did you try leaning it out a bit more?

I haven't, but yeah 12.8ish would be better, I'll get that dialed a little more, then move onto spark.

Wouldnt surprise me if you gained alot of power by leaning it out and adding some timing! It's probably good for another 15-20whp.

Might get about 10hp bringing it to around 12.8.

I still don't get why my torque was so low! Anyone?

LT1 cam is not a torque maker. I had a 305 with LT1 cam in it dynoed with an edelbrock carb and that graph looks pretty close. It was like 180hp IIRC and a super flat torque curve.

TPI right?

Might work out those spark tables and get a good clean 38DEG ATDC from 3000rpm on.

Spark has a pretty good role on torque. As does condition of piston rings :O)

Um, how are you finding "torque specs" for a cam?

Nice to see some dyno numbers posted and "good on ya" to the guys that traveled to the gathering.

It aint easey squeezing HP out of an old school SBC with OEM fuel injection engineered in the early 80's. The LSx crowd has a huge leg up from the start. If you want to make decent power with our archaic settups, start with the heads, then cam to match and atleast an 9.5 CR. With this in mind, I am still suprised no one jumped on the TF heads and matched cam I posted awhile ago in the 4 sale section. It would have made more TQ and been close to winning in HP also. This is of course with a 350.

Blue89, the CR is holding you back bigtime. A BBC needs 9.0/1 minimum and a good set of heads. If you really want to wake it up, go with 10.5/1 and lots of duration on the cam. You should NO problem surpassing 400 RWHP / 450 RWTQ with good heads / cam and decent compression.

Really that much?
The butt dyno says its faster than ever (the real dyno too.) Well see what it does at the track next couple weeks, and I'll try and get the AFR leaner.
Best time at PIR is 15.5@ 87, with a 10.something AFR.

I went from 285RWHP on the dyno at about 11.8:1..... Tuned on the dyno to 305RWHP to 12.8:1.

Ive been reading up on what the numbers mean, and what they normally do. And you can kinda see what the cam SHOULD do. But of course the heads and intake play alot as well.

I wasn't expecting huge numbers, but I am about 30lb-ft below the stock number (at the crank). Sad

That might make it run kinda interesting, eh Paul? Razz

I actually just glanced at the chip we downloaded for John's car (should have been a stock LB9 chip) and the timing table is forked! Like 29* from 3K on!

Just goes to show you gotta check everything you download that's supposedly "stock". That chip had crapped up torque converter lock tables as well. Rolling Eyes

lol was at work typing in a hurry.

Double check that chip. There are ALOT of spark tables that add to the main table.

What I do, is Zero out all the other tables so they have no affect, and run everything off the main MAP/LOAD vs RPM.

If things are funky and dont make sense, it's not a good file or definition.

I checked it just now and the PE spark adder tables have already been zeroed. This was obviously a modified chip that some joker put up as a stock BIN.

This is what I get for downloading a BIN from that Davis Z28 site. Rolling Eyes
