Three steps back. Got the camaro battery charged, fluids filled and checked. Noticed my fuel pressure was 2psi so I figured I would check the bowl level. SOMEHOW..... I managed to drop the freaking bowl screw. And the dang screw didn't land on the ground so it must be in my air gap intake galley and I can't see or feel it. And to add insult to injury, I took the spektor gauge apart and the needle was just stuck. Reads fine now. Someday I'll get ahead. _________________ E30

| That sucks man. Hopefully you find the screw, without having to really rip the motor apart. |

I just spent some more time digging around and no luck. I just don't get where it went. Does anyone know the thread pitch on a holley? I will keep looking but a backup would be nice.
And if anyone could explain why I have an off idle stumble on a 650 double pumped that would be awesome. Linkages are tight, timing is set. |

Sounds like a job for a mechanic's magnet.
If you really can't find it, Holley sells replacement screws. Not sure if you dropped the bowl screw itself, or just the sight screw, but both are available. |

| The screw is magnetic? Off to the garage I go... I don't have the clear sight deals, just the solid screws with the flat head slot. Thanks Aaron! |

| Nope. Those screws are just like the main body. Non-ferrous. I looked some more and still didn't find it. I sure hope napa has some holley parts selection. Maybe I will get some other go fast parts like some pump cams and the clear screws while I'm at it. |

Made it to napa and they had the clear screws. Awesome. However, they don't fit the rear float hole for some reason. And its running like poop so I'm going to clean the carb and play with it. I burnt through half a tank in 30 miles. I think its time to play with jets and power valves. _________________ E30

Might be crud in the needle valves, or a blown PV.
Keep an eye on those clear float screws. I have heard stories of them drying up and shrinking or cracking. Never had a problem with them personally, but something to keep in mind. |

When did Holley floats ditch the roll pin for the float and go to screws?
Or we're talking bowl screws? Never seen a clear one... Why would one want something like that? _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| It's the bowl level screw. It's all they had and now I can set bowl level without spilling fuel accidentally. Not necessary but its kinda handy. |

Ahh I see. Thought we were talking about something else. LoL we never bothered with those at the old shop. Just popped the plug out and adjusted till fuel just dribbled out. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| Yup. I installed the blue gaskets so I'm going to open it up and see how it looks. Maybe I'll measure my idle vacuum first. So I was playing with it yesterday and I made the following observation. At idle or up to 1500 rpm, if you stab the gas straight to the floor and keep if there, the engine will stall and die. Think that's pump shot related? The secondary accel pump and plates only come on after 3/4 throttle or so. I appreciate your help with this. |
