It seems i found one (or 2) at one of the local yards. My question is how much do you have to tear apart to get it out ? Do you need to go all the way through and pull the heater core out ? Any tips will help on the easiest way to snatch it out of there.
Thanks... _________________

super easy...4 or 5 screws on the engine side and 2 screws (10mm) on the inside...just pull the carpet out of the way. Takes 5-10 minutes without trying to rip it out. The heater core is a separate unit not worth going after unless needed. _________________

Take a 10mm socket and pull all the bolts around the upper perimeter and left side (four or so). Get a 10mm wrench and take off the one or two nuts on the right side of the box (might have to back up the stud so it doesn't spin).
Crawl yourself under the dash, pull down the hush panel, and find the two or three 10mm bolts along the bottom of the inner box.
You can also pull the wiring harness, although it's easy to retain the A/C harness and resistor. |

I was hoping Turbo_Jimi would chime in here as he is the expert in A/C delete box removal having scavenged at least 10 from the local wrecking yards and his and my project cars! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Free pro tip: Find some midsize FWD Chebbie at the JY. Pull the squirrel cage off of the heater motor. Should be the style with shorter fins and a large dome in the middle. Put that cage on your old A/C motor. Put the A/C resistor in the A/C delete box. Use your existing wiring harness.
Now you have a heavy duty 4-speed fan, not the crappy little one that comes in the delete box.
BTW, James kids you not; a hammer is by far the best solution to that three-piece fiberglass monstrosity. Just remember to get the blower motor and all wiring out of the way first. |

I'm going to swap AC back into mine...
Although I'm thinking about a tiny vintage air unit. |

I personally have never liked air conditioning. I've only owned one car where it fully worked, and even then I never used it. I'd rather show up on dates with the T-Tops off, hmm better not date during the rainy season |

If I hadn't ripped the A/C stuff outta my car, you wouldn't have any A/C stuff in your car! |

I've had an AC delete box for like 6 months that I haven't put in yet...
Good to know that a hammer takes care of the hard part, which is getting the fiberglass box out of the way of the bolts I need to take out. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56
