1969 Chevrolet Camaro

The problem is I'm 600 miles north of Reno, and I'm told they just got hammered w/snow.

Description:

"I'm getting an EB (Eddie Bauer Bronco) from my brother as a new project, and will be on the lookout for a Centurion (4 Door Bronco) in the spring. I don't want to sell, but only have SO much room for toys. This truck really has been my labor of love for the past two years, but bigger and better things are on the way. I have spared very little expense on this vehicle, and all mods are basically new. It is quite custom, and very tastefully done. Truck is located in Reno, NV.

A little history:

This is an '89 XLT which started life in Elko, Nevada. It has always been in the desert, so there is no rust ANYWHERE. I am the second owner, and this was actually never even titled until 1994 with 41,000 miles because it was previously a dealership owned vehicle. I have a clean title, carfax report and original build sheet. It has been meticulously maintained, and does not leak a drop anywhere. Everything is tight, except for the standard slight "Bronco steering wheel" play that seems to plague us all. I drive this vehicle regularly. Adult/responsibly owned/driven. It is mechanically about a solid as a truck can be, and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere on this continent at a moment's notice.

Exterior:

The truck got a new 2 tone blue candy metallic paint job in Sept 2003, to include sills and jambs. The emblems were all shaved off. All glass (except tailgate window) has been replaced, as have all window scrapers and a few gaskets. Shell windows also recevied new gaskets last year. Windows were treated with Johnson 5% lifetime film. This is the best tint money can buy. Taillights and aluminum tailgate panel have been replaced with late model ('96) parts. Sylvania Silverstar headlights. It has chrome Smittybilt nerf bars and double tube front and rear bumpers. There is a Reese class III hitch and trailer brake installed. I have never towed with it, though.

Interior:

There are only a few very MINOR blemishes on the inside. There is about a 2" crack under the handle in the driver's door panel, but nothing else even major enough to recall. Oh, slight wear on the carpet where your feet go on the driver's side. Aside form these things, just normal (but very light) wear and tear. The interior color is bluemist. Except for the stereo, which I will get to....it is completely stock except for a set of Escort GT buckets which I installed last year. It has power locks and windows, cruise, A/C, and everything works just as it should. 2 minor things: center dome light bulb is out, tailgate window is a little slow, but aren't they all?

Drivetrain:

The stock 5.0L was replaced with a Densmore-built 5.0 longblock in Dec of 2000. Motor is VERY stout. It has only been driven just over 20K since having been installed. The oil has been changed religiously at every 3K using Chevron 10W40 and Mobil 1 filters. Both fuel pumps are brand new, as is the starter. Some minor mods have been done, which include:

Optima Red top
200A 3G alternator upgrade
2 AWG power and ground upgrades
Shorty headers
Stage 8 locking header bolts
Edelbrock twin 56 throttle body, coolant bypassed
Throttle body spacer
K&N cone filter
FRPP wires
MSD coil
180* balanced stat
new 3" exhaust with Magnaflow muffler

Trans is a stock AOD, just serviced. Shifts are very tight. It has 4.10 gears front and rear and a rear LSD. The front axle has manual hubs. A complete brake job was performed less than 20K ago. Wheels and tires are brand new Ultra Type 50 with locks and 35X12.5 Mickey Thompson Baja Claw radials. It has a 6" lift with brand new shocks and boots all around (dual shocks in front,) braided brake lines, brand new front Pro Comp coil springs and insulators and dual steering stabilizers. Borgeson steering shaft. I also have a set of L&L ladder bars which have not been installed yet. The smog equipment has been removed, but I still have all of it if the new owner's area requires it.

Stereo:

This is really the centerpiece of the truck. With a good 31 band EQ, this would EASILY be competition worthy, and is only built with top notch components. There are approximately 150 square feet of Second Skin sound deadener applied to the interior of this truck.

Kickpanels have been hand laid with fiberglass to accomodate a 5.25" driver, and A pillars have also been molded for tweeters. They have been re-textured and color dyed to the factory interior.

-Clarion DRX9675 CD head unit. This is an AMAZING SQ deck. It was Clarion's flagship model in 2002/2003 and is arguably one of the best SQ headunits ever produced. Retail was somewhere around $950. Time alignment, spatial restoration, you name it, it does it all.

-Arc Audio MX 1 electronic crossover mounted in custom console

-Hifonics VII Thor and Odin amps. Rare, sweet, and probably the best series of amps on the planet. These things could withstand a nuclear holocaust and beg for more. Custom display amp rack and fuse holders.

-Diamond Audio CM3 10" subs (2.) in a hand made fiberglass enclosure. Takes up virtually no cargo space, as it is molded into the driver's side wall.

-MB Quart Reference 3 way passive networks
-Rockford Fosgate FNQ carbon fiber 6.5" drivers in the doors
-Alpine reference 5.25" mids in the kicks
-Morel Israel MT22 tweeters in the A pillars

-Probably about another $300 in various wiring and installation accessories


I hope this gives you a good idea, and I will also include some pictures.

Nice ride, i thought about getting a lifted truck to do some offroading but between work and not being able to afford gas on one i decided against it.

Exactly!

I got it yesterday in the a.m.... drove it back.

I like everything about it... except it REALLY needs a new drag link or something. Coming over the passes between Reno and K Falls, and K Falls to Eugene was, well, "exciting" at night on slippery roads.

It's also a little underpowered (did I say that?) so I can easily conceive of swapping the engine trans out of my 90 (a 5.8 with the same trans) swapping the 5.0 back into the 90 and selling it.... it also makes a lot of tire noise (but I love tire noise... did I mention that?)
