Life has been pretty hectic recently. I might be trading my pickup for an '85 Corvette. It's at The Chevy Store and they think they can give me a pretty good price for my truck. The vette is black with graphite interior. It has a TPI 350 with 230 horses and the 4+3 manual tranny and it's been upgraded with 17" ZR-1 rims and a catback exhaust. I was a little worried about the price of insurance on a vette but I worked with my insurance agent and it actually comes out to be around $200 cheaper a year with the vette. Awesome!
On another note, After a long search I got a job. I'll be terrorizing the paint department at Freightliner starting Jan. 10th. Sounds like a pretty good job with decent pay. I'm very excited!
Anyway, hope we all can get together sometime in January. I might have a Corvette by then. _________________ '85 T/A: 305 LG4, 700R4, Edelbrock TES headers, Hooker catback, K&N filter

Great news! Insurance on vettes can be surprising. Most are owned by older fellows so they dont get abused/raced as much as say.. 3d gens. Keeps their insurance low. Back when dad had his bandit TA it was the cheapest rig he had to insure. The 4x4 Cherokee Cheif was most expensive. |

I've heard from a few people that insurance on their Vette's is cheaper than their F-body's...
Sounds like a fun car man, pics are a must upon purchase _________________ '88 Formula

Awesome. My buddy just sold his 85 vette that sounds exactly like that. Minus the wheels. Great cars, wraps nicely around you. If you do get it, upgrade to the newer front/rear bumpers if possible. _________________

The vette thing didn't work out. The vette wasn't as nice as I thought. It was OK but lots of rock chips on the front that have been touched up. That would be fine but the car is black and it looks awful. Interior was kind of starting to fall apart. All this on top of the fact that they would only give me $5,000 for my truck and wouldn't even negotiate on the price of the vette. So there goes that idea.
I might sell my truck outright and find a little newer vette to buy though. I'm thinking '92-'96 with the LT1 and a 6 speed. Keep your fingers crossed. _________________ '85 T/A: 305 LG4, 700R4, Edelbrock TES headers, Hooker catback, K&N filter

92-96 vettes... parts for those things are so expensive. and the trannys are rediculous. i almost picked one up until i started lookin into things and just got turned away by the prices of used parts even. _________________ 1985 Z28. Don't know what im doing stupid 4th gen broke me.

My dad has a yellow '80 vette. It's a blast to drive. I see what you mean about parts for the '92-'96 vettes. Way spendy. I've found some low mileage ones though so I don't anticipate a lot of maintenance.
Maybe I'll just get a Grand National or Syclone. _________________ '85 T/A: 305 LG4, 700R4, Edelbrock TES headers, Hooker catback, K&N filter
