I just looked over a vette post and on a different fourm and a guy was able to get a heavy amount of scratches out maybe i need to re-read it but i couldnt get much info on doing that so how can i get heavy but surface scratches out of my IROC?

i have them all over mostly the hood and should i try turtle wax premium rubbing compound? do you think it would help with the haze on my trunk lid and on some parts of the hood its not white faded but just hazy in spots. What products should i use? i cant use several or expensive products and i dont need it to look perfect but better. I think it would look much better without all the scratches. and i also need advise on what products i should use for the etches in the hood of my durango with clear as glass paint i dont wanna ruin the finish what should i use to remove the deep inside etches?

and please give me all the tips you can give on using a buffer/polisher i never really used one before and dont know anything. also post good website's that would help me. thanks everyone and im using a craftsman 10in 2800orm orbital buffer. thanks.

here i the link of the vette i have somewhat scratches like on the second pic but just more of them and a more advanced http://forums.corvetteforum.com/car-care-discussion/2499083-detailed-the-vette-for-the-1st-time-pics-and-questions.html

Somebody on here (Schultzy, I think) recommended I try Meguiar's Scratch-X.

I did the IROC and the Monterey with it last summer. I worked it by hand with cheapo Blatozone polishing cloths (to much chance of burning through an old GM clearcoat with a buffer IMHO).

That plus some Mother's Carnuba Gold wax (again buffed out by hand). They looked great (for about a week Twisted Evil).

Meguires and 3m products are always good. You don't want to use anything too aggressive on clear coat. You'll just eat through it or make things worse. If you're using a random orbit buffer its fairly safe, but usually doesnt do much but buff the wax out. A regular buffer will remove scratches. However, without having someone who knows what they're doing, I don't recommend you use one. You can really ruin a paint job in a hurry with a straight buffer.

If you tape off all of the sharp edges, a novice should be able to buff out a car with a regular buffer starting with cutting compound.
