All 3rd gens are OBD I or Carbed. I think even the first year or two of 4th gen was still OBD I but I could be wrong on the 4th gen part.

Yeah, I think they were OBD I up until 96 or 97. And for awhile they were OBDI with and OBDII port. Now that was a pain in the ass.

All cars built since January 1, 1996 have OBD-II

IIRC the orginal HP didnt, but the new one does. Maybe boosted can tell us?

I'm still on the first of two free tunes. But if I get this truck I'm looking at, I'll burn another.

HPTuners give you 8 GM or Ford credits when you make the purchase. Each vehicle takes a certain amount of credits to license the VIN, so depending on how many credits you have determines how many vehicles you can register.

8 credits can license almost any 4 GM vehicles.

The thing with HPTuners is that while 2 credits will tune any one car, 6 credits will tune any one year.

Many tuners around using EFILine and HPTuners tend to charge $100 for the tuning credits, then $250-450 depending on their rate and amount of time put in... granted, this is just for the LSx community, I know that LT1 tuners tend to run a bit cheaper.

When I got the chance to play with HPTuners myself, Bryan and I ended up just purchasing the year for 6 credits since both our cars were 01's ... that right there is honestly another $100 in his pocket every time he tunes an 01 car.

Good way to do business for yourself, plus it puts more money into the companies pocket as well since they've done the ground work and consistently keep updates and new software available at no charge... and HPTuners tech support is pretty damn nice as well Smile
