PostPosted: Thu Dec 04, 2008 11:08 pm    Post subject: Custom Artwork of your car Reply with quote

Hey all, so my girlfriend is an amazing watercolor artist. For my birthday last year she painted me a picture of my car that is straight up awesome! I convinced her to start painting other cars in her spare time and she has come up with some great work. I have them framed in my computer room and they get comments all the time.

I got to talking to her tonight about how i bet people would be willing to pay her for her services of custom painting pictures of people's cars to frame and hang in the office. Thought I'd throw it out and gauge interest of some car guys like you all. Would this be something that any of you may be interested in purchasing if she decides to start painting professionally?

Well we are still trying to come up with a price that doesn't give away her talent but isn't unreasonable.

~$50 for an 8.5 X 11 portrait based on a picture of your car.

thoughts?

Droptop
at that price, after materials she is almost working for 10 bucks an hour considering she puts some serious time into them. I found some other guy who does this for $150 a pop! and he is not very good

don't get me wrong, I was saying thats a great price Very Happy
I can get some guy at a car show, that I have no connection with to do it, or have a crew members significant other for the same price. if shipping is reasonable I would like crewbie art on my wall way more!

I'd be interested. Definitely post up a sample of black betty.

That's kind of twisted. Your girlfriend painting pictures of your mistress? Actually, that's sweet. Go Jake!

WOW thanks for the positive support! She is painting a few cars for christmas presents for friends and family so i'll scan her most recent work then. I'm excited about the possibility of crewbie art!

I'll revive this thread in a week or 2 when i have some examples.

Hi again. So here are three examples of work my girlfriend did this week. The pictures are painted on 11"X14" paper using watercolors. This is the standard size she does but she can paint much bigger pictures on special request (i think i have an idea of my christmas present Holiday grin Get down and Boogie! ) Tell me what you guys think and if you may be interested.

Those are pretty cool. So long as I get one of the ones with round wheels, I'll be a happy camper. Wink

(And I don't mean that in a bad way, the first two are awsome, something looks funky with the rear wheel on the VW though...)

Sign me up when she has some time.

Nonsense. Idaho, BC and Oregon are now a part of John's door.
