Ok, so i've finally got everything on my camaro up and running right.. in a week or 2 hopfully i'll have the windows tinted.. My question is. how much does a good condition 3rd gen go for.. i've looked on craigslist. kbb'd it, i am really considering selling this and going with a more muscley car..

think it's possible to get 6-8g's?

Well it has a v6 with over 200k miles that is really hurting your value in my opinion. I would say 4000-4500 because of the nice paint and wheels.

think it's worth putting recaro racing seats in it before selling it? or just keeping the stock?

Even with new paint $4k would be the high end.

anything you put in you won't get out. if you put recaro seats in and they cost you 500 you might get 200 more for the car with them in there. these are not exact numbers, but that's how it goes.

that said.. v6 camaro.. even with nice stiff i'm going to have to go with paul on this one.

It is really hard to say. Really it will sell for what someone is willing to pay. You wait long enough, and find that right buyer who wants it, $4k is probably doable. I would guess if you are trying to sell it off on a time-line, the number goes down.

The rarer V8 cars are just now starting to slowly start gaining some value, I haven't seen the V6's do that all quite yet.

well.. guess i'll put it up for around that price or somthing, see how it goes after a couple weeks, if not, i'll just keep it and tell myself that me and this car were met to be, and start saving for a nice body with interior so i can swap the el camino motor into a nicer shell.. if anyone know's someone's who's got a decent muscle car body w/ driveable interior let me know..

My two cents: hang on to it. You will be lucky to get the price you paid for paint out of it.

Third-gen with a V6 on craigslist will go for around $1500. Yours is clean, a later model, and with the wheels and paint you might get 2 G's out of it.

Right now the economy is a joke. I'm seeing some real nice cars going for a lot less than they were worth just a couple years ago. Right now is the time to buy what you want, and chill on what you got, not the time to wheel and deal.

That said, if you have the cash to toss down without selling anything, you couldn't be better off. There are tons of old guys desperate to unload their little half-finished projects cheap so they can make the next mortgage payment.

i have no clue where to begin putting a carb'd engine into the camaro.. i wouldn't know what to do with gauges to make sure they work.. i'm smart enough to fix something broken on the engine but not enough to mess with wires. and all that good stuff, i know it's been done, but for a 18 year old with very little knowledge i don't think it's possible.. at

No need to do a carb swap. You can build a StealthRammed SBC and get a factory V8 harness.

Wiring itself it not hard at all. You just have to have a good head, and dive in. I just spent a few hours today replacing or extending almost all the underhood wiring in the Merc, and installing new Autometers. And I don't think the "I'm 18" line will work. I started when I was 11, and I know guys who were in it a lot younger than that. Wink

wasn't trying to use the 18 thing.. just saying, i didn't get into car's till i was able to drive one.. and i didn't start working on them till somthing first went wrong.. i'm one of those people who have a hard time reading how to do it.. more of a visual learner.. and i don't have anyone to show me the ropes.. tomarrow i think i'm going to tinker with the camino engine a bit, probley send the heads in to get rebuilt and get the new intake and 4 barrel carb

Its slow enough selling economy cars, Dewey is right, its worth what someone will pay in the current market. Sacrificial sales are common now.

I'd say 1500 would most likely be a price that would get you a buyer within a reasonable amount of time. Better to keep it.

who needs gauges anyways! lol, My car is carb-ed now and it runs fine. just turn the car on, and start cutting wires! as long as it still runs then you are all good! that's my philosophy...
