brought to you courtesy of the SSS....
Got a nice phone call today at work.. a very excited neighbor of mine called to tell me there was a BEAR in my yard attackin Debbies goats. The bear didnt seem to mind his car horn. But the dog got excited and he left. After leaving lots of nice claw marks on one goat and scaring 2 of them all the way to the farm down the road. Amazing Hannah even barked at the thing, dang dog's afraid of a squeeky toy, yet decides to scare off a full grown bear. Anyway, the neighbor went back and rounded up the goats for me, and I called my stepmother. She and my brother come out and put the dog in the house and locked the goats in the barn. Deb was away at the time. Dad's supposed to be roundin me up a gun of sufficient size. Dont have anything here at the moment to do more than piss one off.
Oh and Rodney, 2 days ago bow elk season opened.. 3 days ago I had 50 head in the field. Took some pics i'll try and send you one to show your dad. Seems I can't allow hunters on the place anymore though. Insurance company wants another $8k a year to insure the place if hunting is allowed. Bit spendy. |

But I get a bear steak dammit! |

You can eat the whole damn thing. I'll take a rug though. Dont know anyone who eats the bear around here, not even the indians. I hear they taste awful. Must be what they eat.
Game wardens supposed to come out tonight and set a trap. Then reset it tomorrow in daylight.
What do you think the odds of that working are?? |

I'd say slim to none.
Brandon, I'm not even going to go anywhere near the "what you eat" comment around this place. Way too dangerous with this crowd.
On a lighter but similar note, anybody else hear recently about the bear that was rummaging through ice chests at a somewhat local NW campsite? Seems twice in a row he passed up the food bearing ones for the beer coolers and drank himself silly. IIRC the story right the second time it drank until it passed out and was found the next morning surrounded by a crap load of empties. |

Old news dude. The bear drank massive amounts of Rainier Beer and left the Busch beer alone. |

my next suggestion was one of those .50cal sniper rifles with the near 2 mile range...
but i suppose if you want fine ribbons of blood flying a quarter mile in every direction, that suggestion works well _________________

Well I guess the bear killed a neighbors dog and tore up their garden. It's also been spotted a couple times in the daylight.. Not the kind of animal to have around. |

Good luck on the bear hunt. Miss the bear and snag me a big ol elk for our hunting trip in a couple weeks.
And Mike, I don't think you want to shoot a bear with any kind of armor peircing bullet. You want the soft hollow point bullets to penetrate and then just rip the hell out of anything inside, not just poke him full of holes.
Remingtons Core-Lokt are my favorites. |

Yeah, I use the armor piercings for breaking rocks mostly. Not much other use for them past putting f*rd blocks out of their misery.
Remington cor-lokt are pretty good for most general hunting purposes. If you decide to roll your own try the Barnes X-bullets. Your not going to get much better then those. Lately for small game I've gotten to where I use the 125 ballistic tips and then try for splatter pattern along with remnant trajectory and rotation.
Needless to say, I'm down with the hunting posse. |

If you've ever done a tranny swap in the driveway during a snowstorm...
You might be a redneck! |
