Yup, except its not an IROC. Wink

Check out the 4thgen nose emblem, it works pretty well on a 3rdgen.

Aside from the wrong wheels and a badge on the dash, it's two decals away from a nice IROC clone. Thumbs up

With those wheels it could be an '87-'90 IROC clone. Hes got the 'Z28 5.0L H.O.' badge from my old '84 Z on the dash. Did L69 equiped IROCs use a different badge?

That is the look James was going for. Hes not claiming its an IROC, but if someone were to mistake it for one I don't think he'd mind. Cool

My '87 Iroc came stock with those wheels. That nose badge looks like an updated aftermarket piece. Nice though. Wish I had paint.

IIRC Mine had that same "Camaro" nose insert. I swapped it for the Bowtie.

Clean car man. What'd the paint set you back if you don't mind me askin?

An 88-90 IROC would have IROC rocker panel badges, not Z28. I forget what my L98 dash badge says, but there's no mention of "H.O" or the displacement.

The nose insert is most definitely from a 4thgen, I was there when he yanked it off one at the wrecking yard.

Because its a Z28 it came stock with the non-foglight grill insert. I think he got the "Camaro" insert new off ebay.

I'm not sure what James paid, but its a Maaco job. This particular Maaco (Pine St. in Tacoma) does really good work. I've had 2 cars painted there and both looked great. Hopefully TJ will chime in here and give some details.

1985 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

Thanks to John for posting the pics and for you all for checking it out! It's a 1985 Z28 with an LG4, but it now has the dual-snorkel intake (and dash badge) from John's old 84, the wheels are from an 87-90 IROC, the nose badge is from a 96 Z28 that was at the junk yard, and the paint job cost $480 with tax (includes the 50 bucks i paid to have the old stripes completely removed). It would have cost twice as much to do the two tone paint job it originally had, plus i think it looks cleaner now. I did get the grille insert off of ebay. I also have centercap decals for the wheels that say Z28. My intention is not to make it a clone or something that it isn't...I just feel that I am taking the best features from all the years, at least in my opinion, and applying it to my car. I also have a steering wheel from a 92RS in there now. I will also be painting the headlight pockets, which my Z did not have before. Smile

I'd leave them like that man. They look pretty good with the blue.

TJ,

How much prep work did you do before hand? And how is the overspray etc?

My paint is getting enough that I am almost considering the maaco spray, just so it looks better than it does. I just don't want overspray and such everywhere.

let's just say i removed the hood louvers and i installed old sets of tail lights, sidemarker lights and park lights before i took it over there. I should have done more prep, like pounding out dents, but then i would have never taken it in...lol! they sanded the car down, did 1 coat of primer, then 3 coats of gloss...turned it from a 50 footer to about a 5 footer...they did get overspray on one tire and the painted my exhaust pipes (haven't installed tips yet, which was good) i also paid 50 extra bucks to make sure the old stripes were removed and all the glue residue as well. hope this answers your question.

oh yeah, cuz they WILL nickel and dime you if given the chance...but hey, that's their business Wink I'm happy with what I got. If I had the bodywork perfect i might have spent more and even included the clear coat, but I just wanted not to be an eye sore in my neighborhood...for now.
