So yeah, i was driving down the freeway with my girlfriend and i started to feel a slight vibration in the rear. I asked my girlfriend if she felt it and she said "you car always vibrates, it feels the same" this is true due to the stiff suspension but i knew something was different. when it got worse i knew something was terribly wrong. i exited immediately and when i pulled over i got out and noticed that i had lost 2 lugnuts and 2 more were finger tight and about 3 turns from falling off!!!!
This was so scary all i can say its a good thing i know my car like the back of my hand and know what is normal and what isn't.
my question is what would cause the sudden loosening of my lugnuts?!?! I have driven with the same set of lugs. wheels, and rearend since january and have not had a problem.
help, i don't want to die and kill my car and girlfriend in the process.

have any enemies?
might check the condition of the threads on the remaining nuts, and the threads on the studs themselves.
man...it seems like bad stuff's been happening to everyone I know lately. _________________

| That sucks man. Make sure you torque them on right. Were the studs damaged at all? |

That happened to me back in high school with my 87. But the wheel DID fall off. It only had two lug nuts left and three were just gone. Never figured it out. _________________

That happened to me too on my Cutlass when I was stationed in Seal Beach. Making the trip from Long Beach to home, the rear end felt a bit funny (was already making some ticking sounds I couldn't figure out). Left rear wheel fell off at about 35mph and set the rear on the trailer hitch I had on the car - saved me from much more damage. The service center It was towed to didn't want to get at it until the next day, but I explained to them it's the only driver I had and need to go to a job next day. I forget what it cost at the time, but 5 studs and lug nuts later I was done. I never did figure out why that wheel was loose. _________________ 92 Camaro

| It's happened to my truck several times. Only once since I owned it, but my brothers actually lost a couple wheels at a time on it before. I had a front one come loose, he's had a front, and both backs. |

when my brother drove his 85 bmw (before the nissan swap) from SLC to portland he lost all five wheel bolts. (Germans don't use studs).
thankfully the local tire center had replacements.
good job on the looking out there jake. |
