I was reading a thing on TGO about the charge time of the coil and how fast you can rev your engine before there isn't enough time to charge it. Charge time was 2.5ms for a 6000rpm V8. So 15/RPM = charge time.
So how do you make a V8 rev past 6000rpm? I've never heard of it being an issue before but it makes sense. Are there coils that do a better job of charging at low charge times? I know a couple of people run Jacob Coils? _________________ E30

Does it crap out completely or just not have a full charge? I figured it would've just not had a full voltage. 40k instead of 55k and less the higher you go? No? _________________

| I would think that the spark voltage would dip down considerably once the coil won't reach saturation. Does anyone run more than one coil? I don't even know how that would work. Of those who have aftermarket coils, what RPM do they advertise it will work to? |

| A cd ignition will do alot for that with a single coil. With a CD ignition you're putting 4-500 volts into the input side of the coil instead of just 12. |

I found this article. It explains a bunch of stuff but leaves a bunch more questions. I think that like you guys said, a CD box like the MSD stuff is the best way to start. After that its a matter of finding a decent coil. Makes me wish I could do something for my V6 other than the Blaster coil I have. Oh well, thanks for the help guys! |
