I finally decided that I'm keeping the Z28 and parting out the RS. Of course most of those parts are going to the Z! I already have the wheels, hood, front facsia, and front gfx from the RS on the Z. It looks KILLER (except for the two-tone paint)! I will hopefully get the rest of the gfx on tomorrow (and remove that hideous tow hitch!) Then on to the interior swap. Its gonna be alot of work, but the Z28 runs so well and being that it has the L69 and G92 options (yup, 3.73s!) I figured it was worth keeping. And I won't miss the RS 'cause most of it will be on the Z! _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

A little more than 1,600 1985 L69's T/A's were made and who knows how many were WS6 _________________

Yeah, its fun to drive, but I don't think I can afford to drive it to Renton and back everyday. Gas is killing me! |

How long is that drive? Mine is at about 12.5 miles each way from Aloha/Beaverton area to North Portland, and it is definitely sucking up the gas. |

36.5 miles for me.
Gresham - Beaverton
luckily the audi seems to sip on the gas, i get about 35mpg on the freeway. i usualy average about 26mph per tank, with some 'Lama Style' driving
Actualy, my RS would go over 30mpg on the freeway. it was a descent llttle comutter with the stock mill. |

Yeah, if mine were tuned up and running right it would probably be a good commuter too. Dewey is that 36 each way?? That's insane! Mine is about 24 or 25 total, which is already too much. |

I guess we have it easy, I do Aloha to N. Plains and Steph only has to go to hillsboro.
We'll see what the 3.73's do to her mileage once Rodney brings them up, can't be much worse then the 3.42's.
Kelly be honest here, thats 12.5 miles each way at 30 mph. We all know the cornell to 217 section. |

lmao, yeah we did, sorry about that! it's the one thing we're good at around here.
Flyte Risk, yeah you are sure right about that section. It has been killing me doing that commute. The worst part on the average day is the I-405 (Fremont) bridge going north, where I can easily spend 15 minutes on a good day. |

Sounds like a cool setup.
Easier to swap body/interior pieces onto the Z than swapping motor/tranny/rear into the RS? _________________ 1990 Ford Mustang 5.0L LX - parked for the winter

With a garage and the proper equipment, swaping the engine and drive train from the Z to the RS would be the easier route. Lacking both, I am going the other way. I got most of the major stuff done; front facia and gfx, hood, wheels, and interior except for the dash and steering column. (Man, getting the pristine headliner out of the RS in one piece was a serious PITA! But I got it into the Z and it looks sweet!) Besides the remaining interior pieces, all I got left is the rest of the gfx, tail lights, rear bumper cover, and rear hatch (I wanna keep my third brake light). I may end up swapping doors also for several reasons. 1st, the pass side mirror is tweaked, not sure if the door is bent or just the mirror itself. 2nd, the driver side door has a huge dent in it. 3rd, I'd have to swap over the door trim pieces anyway. And 4th, the RS's power windows seem to move much faster than the Z's. This car is already looking badass to me and I can't wait to finish her! A neighbor of mine just gave me a Classic Industries Camaro catalog. I got lots of new pieces to order. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

I took the Camaro around the block a few times...I now want the 3.73s for my ride (to go with the Hurst 5-speed I'm installing next week) _________________
