So the other thread about me having a garage full of clone cars got me thinking...

So a quick search resulted in...

non rusty 2nd gen with bad paint, $2000

as long as it is a 1970 -77 you can reuse the same fenders

then all you need is a new:
header panel- $200
lower valence- $200
split bumpers- $219
lower front spoiler - $130
grill- $60
blinkers- $80
SS grill emblem!!!- $20

rear bumper- $137
rear body panel- $55
tail lamp set- $100

paint and prep- $2000 (if i did it myself)

this puts me around $5,300 for a 1970 split bumper clone, not bad considering these things run well over $10,000 for a nice one.

kinda makes me wonder if black betty is worth around $5,000...

70s split bumpers are not that neat. your thirdgen is cooler in my opinion Jake.

go Team Black.

ok ok, maybe a separate project someday.

I would never forsake team black!

Besides, i mentioned the idea to my girlfriend today and she said, "don't sell your car, i really like it!"

Shocked nice...

Might be worth keeping her around, me thinks Smile

i agree, don't trade off Black Betty just yet. If you collect parts for the new ride at a slow pace then your bank account won't even notice!

If you were to use a 74 on up body you would not have a 70 clone. the back window doesnt wrap down the side on 70 - 73 F bodies.

You are correct, 74 was the last year for the flat window. My first car was a 74 LT.
