The chrome on the 92's wheels is starting to peel really bad on the back side and starting to creep through to the front. Since I had the wheels off the 89 to work on brakes and axle today, I thought I'd like to what they would look like on the purple 92. I just set them up next to the car as tight as they would go against its already mounted wheels & tires. I shot a picture of the front as straight on as I could, but still looks funny, but the color doesn't look bad against the purple. I thought it may be too dark, but the polished rim breaks that up a bit. I might consider a set of these also for the 92.

I think the black and polished ZR1's from the grand-sports would be a great look on the purple car. That way you have a little bit of variety, it is the spice of life after all.

EDIT: Picture for refrence...

I looked into something like those when I got the Z06 replicas. What size & offset are those offered in?

Not quite the same, but these would fit the pocketbook a little better. Hot Wheels Sixty Eight. Notice the Hot Wheels logo on the center cap and by the valve stem.

from the factory I think they are 17x9.5 Front / 17x11 Rear. But, you will have to aftermarket to get them, I think you can get them in 17x9, probably a few other sizes, but 17x9 would be what you would want for our cars.

Those hot wheels look like the spokes angle outwards towards the center? I think a flat spoke would probably look better. But the dark looks really good against the purple.

Dew, that's a hell of a shot or GSs!

Al, I think the hotwheels would look good, they are only in 17x8 though right?

Ian, yeah that is an awsome GS shot. I would love to get ahold of a GS, I would probably sell the camaro if I got a shot at buying one. People are still VERY proud of the GS though, and the prices reflect it... you can get ZR1's for less that GS's most of the time... Shocked

John, those are 17X9, and can be had with the Camaro offset. They're wider than either set I have now, an inch over the chrome ones and 1/2" over the Z06 black ones.

Means you'll have to go with at least a 275mm wide tire. Very Happy

HAHAHA. Those are actually the same wheels I was considering for the 89 shortly after I bought it. Looks like MAYBE they might end up on the 92, or possibly another set of Z06 wheels.

If anything, i'd go with a kit of the original GS. Look up mongoose motorsports sometime. They even have turn keys if you want!

Went shopping and couldn't find anything with black center/machined lip in the size/offset required. I don't care to be putting spacers on my sixer, besides I'd like the option of swapping between cars if the need arises. I was shown a brand new set by MB Motorsports which are 100% polished (of course they have a clear coat). Available 17X8 with zero offset, same as on the car now. About $125 per wheel plus mount/balance.

I vote you take the wheels you have on the 92 and have them sand blasted, then you could polish them if they are aluminum or get them powder coated. I don't think you will like having 2 cars with the same set of wheels.

They are different. Black Z06 replicas on the 89, and considering this MB Motorsport polished "Vintage" for the 92. They should come close to matching the polished rocker emblems on the car. I think you misunderstood same offset for same wheel Wink

I would love to have a set of these. Raceline GT's. I think they come 17x9 and 17x10. Schwabbies has them. If I had my current job when I bought my Amp Sixers I would have got the Raceline's instead.

Those Racelines are nice Travis, a little too open design for my drum rear end Laughing The hub on the MB vintage looks large enough to cover almost, if not all of the drum.

Jason, those look like the Torque Thrust II wheels which are a pretty common choice among 3rd gen owners. Those look good in the photo.
