that pretty much somes it up, the 'bird has been recently tuned up.
having trouble starting cold, pops on the service light after idling for a while (even at stop lights) then stops when you get to a constant speed, very rough idle. newer O2 sensor.
are these symptoms of the fuel pump going? stuck injector?
this is the worst possible timing as i my tags are almost up _________________

Can you check BLM's? I'd start with spark first and then check fuel pressure. Sucks but at least its a new problem. Could be numerous things, but if you have good spark then it has to be fuel related. _________________ E30

| Nevermind. Just check your ignition system and then check the fuel. Its got to be one or the other. |

i had the car hooked up to our OBDII scanner today in auto-shop, it said something about the map sensor, couldnt read the whole thing before the scanner shut off... like out of batteries or something.
while i was in the datastream, it said something like BLM-yes
does that help any blue? I know im just stabbing in the dark _________________

well if your map is off, that will definetly make it run terrible.
If your BLM's are shoved one way or the other you can get a better feel for whats going on. But you if you have teh capabilities to read it, you can just look to see what sensor is out of wack. |

You need to get the scanner on it and see what reading the o2 is giving and likewise with the map and Coolant temp.
Sounds like the coolant temp sensor went out. Makes em run pig rich, if at all. Makes the ECU think it's like -39ºF.
I've never seen a regulator spike pressure up. You might check plugs too. Find out if it's just a handfull or one cyl vs all 8. |

the 4 plugs i pulled out are black and dry... numbers 1,2,3,5 some worse than others and there only a few month old AC Delco's.
the OBDII read the correct coolant temp. between 200-215 degrees _________________

so I think I've ruled out a spark problem.
on the scope at auto-class, the timing and spark looks correct when when showed across a graph.
I am really tempted to buy a couple re-man fuel injectors and see if that does anything. _________________

| have you verified that all your sensor outputs are within their desired spec when the engine is warm? i wouldn't throw parts at it unless the parts need to be replaced anyway. |

well i put out $100 bucks and got my self some re-man injectors and a new fuel pressure regulator.
they were definetly showing there age as the regulator had a pin hole leak and the injectors stream was abnormal.
I thought the problem might have been an EGR issue but it never threw the code...
now i am just gonna change the plugs because there black from all the extra gas. probably check the 02 as well. _________________
