they're talking about passing something similar to this in Oregon as well.
Haven't seen anything concrete about it yet. _________________

Oh yeay. They tax you, tax you again, then figure one more time should be enough (for now)! I'm about ready to start riding the horse around town. Stick it to the man! And I bet not one dollar of the tax is going to go towards green power research or carbon scrubbing. I wish they would simply raise the price of gas instead of doing BS like this.
I wonder how they charge forced air vehicles. It would save you $50 a year if you put a turbo on a 4.3L. It would suck if all the 20psi pushing WRX STI's didn't get charged for the equivelant 5.0L air they gulp. _________________ E30

Wow. That statement doesn't show a complete ignorance of automotive technology and physics in general at all... |

Some food for thought when you e-mail them.
The Corvette Z06 gets 16 city/24 highway, from a 7.4L motor
Where as a Jeep Patriot with only a 2.4L motor get 19 city/21 highway.
Their Carbon outputs are very similar @ 10.02 and 9.8 tons per year. In fact, if you get the standard corvette, it has only 9.6 tons per year of carbon emmisions.
If you also compare in the turbo charged cars, such as the Mistibushi Lancer Evo, it gets 17 city / 22 highway and produces 10.2 tons of carbon per year. It is not fair to charge the Z06 owners almost 6 times as much each year, when they are actualy poluting and using less gas than the 2.0L mitsubishi.
Another interesting note, is how are they going to deal with GM's new fleet of displacement on demand vehicles? |

And here is one for someone to e-mail, who really wants to get some attention.
Here is the 11 year solar activity cycle graph from the last 200 years, overlayed with the sun-spot graph, and global temp.
Now, you put that same overlay with the 11 year sun cycle graph, and the 200 year sun cycle graph...
And next thing you know, it looks like the suns activity has more to do with global temps, than maybe our carbon output does.
Just some food for thought. _________________

| idk.. from what i got told.. every few thousand years the earth warms up and cools back down.. and are our car's really doing htat much harm compared to factorys?.. shoot, i live near hanford.. and every day and night i can see smoke from that area.. sure that isn't very enviromental friendly.. i just think that's a load of crap (pardon language) that going and paying to keep our car's on the road is really going to help it.. their just trying to stray us away from our car's and go hybrid.. why let them do that?.. if we paid for the dang things, why should we have to pay even more just to be able to drive it.. both my car's are V6's.. but i am going to buy a LT2 from a guy down the road.. this upset's me.. it's like the law that got shot down not too long ago that the great gov chris tired to get passed taht allowed police to put road blocks on whatever approved street to check for drunk drivers.. yea in theory that's a good idea.. but having to be stoped every so often when you've got places to be just to get checked sounds horrible... and she said she's going to tryin get it passed again in the near future.. |

Another fun one is to look at how far you can drive for the energy cost of making a hybrid. Not to mention the non-eco friendly materials.
Good post dew! I looked that up just last week and noticed the trend. I was geeking out about sun spot/activity. Did you notice the little ice age when there was no cycles for 20+ years in the early 1800's? |

Yeah, that and it is pretty amazing to see how the 200 year cycle really seems to have a large effect on the "upward warming trend" we had in the later half of the last century. The graph you are looking at extrapolates the 200 year cycle out about 20 more years, so you can see in the next 20 years or so, we should see global temps stabalize, then start to crawl downward.
Travis, also notice that in the mini ice-age in the 1800's, we were at the low point in the 200 year cycle, then a low in sun spot activity, and toss in a downside on the 11 year cycle, and things cool down. |

Interesting graphs John.
Where did you get them. I'd be interested in reading more. |

Kelly (Kage87Z) was saying this bill is probably toast and won't even be voted on.
There's another post about it. _________________

| Following the same thread over on TGO, the bill died in the Senate without being voted on. |
