I found another nice digital camera on sale and open box special, hard to refuse as I've been looking at it for a long time. This one is a true SLR which will accept the auto focus lenses from the Minolta Maxxum that I already have. Haven't had a chance to play with it much as the battery still needs to be charged.

It is the Sony Alpha DSLR-A100

Looks fancy Al! I keep tripping over my old SLR Pentax 35mm dot focus camera. I really wanted the split/dot style, but thats what I got. I keep it just cause I'd feel really guilty if I sold it. I use a fixed 35mm and 85-200mm (with macro) lenses. Aren't the 35mm camera's supposed to be 8mpixel equivelant?

Cool Al! You will love the SLR, I got to use my Dad's 12mp SLR while i was in Africa, having a good camera like that, that you have full manual contorl over makes a huge diffrence in the quality of pictures you can take.

I neat thing I found out before I actually bought this. The matrix the DSLR uses for focusing differs slightly from the SLR, now the lenses I used with the MAXXUM set-up effectively have thir focal length increased by 1/2 - my 100-300mm is now effectively 150-450mm Very Happy

Fully extended it's 7 1/2 inches (off the camera). I also have a manual focus 600mm which is only 6 inches long (uses mirrors) that I rarely use.
