Ok, its a V belt set up, and so do I still need to put another idler in there? Or do I just un bolt it and throw it away?
The cruise doesn't work, so do I need to be away of anything before I start ripping it out? |

| I second. You only need an idler for a single belt setup. |

I'l correct that and say you only need an Idler with a Serp setup. you can delete the belt (and in your case the AC) and be ok. _________________

I'm looking to restore my AC setup so if you are planning on "throwing away" any useable parts PLEASE let me have! Good luck with all of it!

I deleted my A/C by simply unbolting everything and ripping all the associating parts out of there. I also have an '85 with a V belt. BTW I think I saved some of my A/C components in case you're interested Jake. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

| Jake, was your car a base model, or did someone pull the AC along the line? I ask because the interior heater box and dash are different with AC, so adding it to a base model car looks like quite a bit of work. |

I seem to recall Jake's A/C is still in the car. His compressor is shot though, among other things. _________________ 92 Camaro

yeah, like Al said, I have it all there, its just not working properly. So if i had someones misc parts i could piece mine back together to get it working again.

Jake, you might be better off to get a new compressor and recharge your system with 134a. Less expensive that way (ask me how I know). R12 is way expensive and it's lubricant is not compatible with the lubricant 134a uses.
New compressor, new orifice tube and a new pressure switch I believe is what you need to get (someone add more if I'm wrong), then evacuate the system and charge with 134a. Doing all that is less than a new compressor and recharging with R12. _________________ 92 Camaro

| If you're doing that work a new evaporator would be a good idea as well, those things will accumulate all the junk and debris that builds up in the system. |

That would be a good idea come to think of it. I left mine in though when the compressor crapped out. Did a good evacuation, changed all the O-rings and the other stuff mentioned, then recharged with the new stuff. _________________ 92 Camaro

Sorry man, it's just that when I deleted mine I printed up your guide and was reading it while laying upside down under my dash, and kept cracking up trying to read it. |
