YEEEEAAAAAYYYYY!

My roommate just picked up a RED 88 T-top 305TPI T5 Firebird. I'll post pics up tonight. Looks just like very other red bird. The only problem is that the clutches slave cylinder blows out (?). The guy said that it has been replaced 3 times already. Is this common? I think there might be another problem like missalignment, but has anyone heard of this happening so many times?

It's all pretty secure in position down there I can't imaging they would be mis-aligned.

He might be putting the wrong fluid in, or replaced them with used ones?

I hear they leak, occassionally, but not that often.

I'll have to get into it. Its a pretty car. All stock except some aluminum centerline rims. I need to fix my LT1 first though. I ordered an OBD0 cable that should be here Wed!

I have a 3rd gen clutch setup at home. It has a hard plastic line that goes down to the slave, but then there isn't any fitting??? Are they all like this? I pulled it from an 89 RS.

My slave cyl has been on my car for 20 years now and no problems.

For a replacement they have both plastic and aluminum ones available. When I worked at Auto Zone they supplied us with both kinds, was luck of the draw which one we got. I got a spare aluminum one just in case. If you are going to replace yours, call around and see if you can get one of the aluminum ones. They won't be able to order one and specify aluminum, so make some calls and you may get lucky.

Good to know. How does the hard plastic line attach to the aluminum slave?

The line slips into the slave and then a roll pin holds a flange on the line in.

The seal is made via o-ring.
