So im still having a problem with my 87 iroc. when im cruising everythings fine. stop turn off the car, get back in the car 5-10 minutes later and SES light pops on. I try to get it to throw a code or anything and nothing and the car seems to run fine. Later no SES light put the car under heavy load and it sounds like the Anti-knock sensor (so says my dad?) is going off? it kinda sounds like a metal tangging noise? kinda hard 2 explain. And after that still wont throw codes when the SES light comes on.

I wouldent be driving it up the 89Rs kinda took a dump on me....dun wanna talk about it Sad Dont feel like working on it any more...seems like as soon as i hit 160k everything took a dump at once..Water pump, dizzy leaking oil, brakes, alternator takin a dump. So fed up with it....

Any help w/ any insight on the Iroc would be useful

If you have a digital multimeter, put the leads to measure OHMs. Then Put one lead in pin A, the other lead to a known good ground location, check the resistance. It shouldnt be more than 1ohm resistance (a little more probably acceptable), I would like to see about .3ohms though.

If you find it shows OL, or extremely high resistance, pin A is not providing ground, thereby the whole checking codes thing wont work.

If it was pin B that was bad, then plugging in a code reader would still allow you to pull codes, because they use pin E or pin M to scan codes through serial data.

This wont fix your problem, but should atleast let you scan the codes so you know where to go from there.
