Argghhh.... The seats arrived and the driver side got smashed during shipping. Various pieces of plastic are damaged/broken/crushed. The seller says it wasn't like that before being shipped.

Now I have to make an insurance claim with DHL. My understanding is that it can be very difficult to actually collect anything. But that's not half the pain of trying to replace the parts. It's just not going to be a good experience.

Anybody have any advice dealing with DHL? Any lessons learned would be appreciated.

I bought an 8x11 sheepskin rug (flokati) through a dealer on the internet and they shipped DHL, when it arrived, it was stained with oils, apparently somebody elses shipment was punctured as was mine, and well, wool + oil = fail.

DHL didn't do anything, I had to cover the cost of shipping it back to the dealer, and they sent out a new one (again at my expense) ...

a few months back I actually saw the invoice in an email to me, 2 years after the rug had been purchased, returned and a new one delivered... they sent it to me because of the dispute for shipping. Nothing was ever really resolved about it.

I'd honestly rather use FedEx or UPS over DHL because they're more reliable, though they do tend to take a little longer, you have less retards working for them (or so it seems)

Everytime I've had something shipped DHL there was problems. I bought a lot of 5 xbox's on ebay back in the day to resale to my friends. DHL messed up the package and 'lost' 3 of them. I never was able to recover anything and was out the money.

I also had a complete rear axle from a 4th gen shipped to me; supposedely the brakes were still attached and tied on with some string, after getting it weeks later, it was all beat up and had no brakes attached...I don't know why or how. I just know they weren't there and when I talked to the people on the phone, they blamed me and the seller.

I go out of my way to avoid them.

I was going to work for them. They pay their employees very low and they have a high turn over rate.

It could be either a packaging problem or a delivery problem, was it properly packaged?

I took delivery of some seats from Hawks, they were drop shipped from a truck, and they were not kidding bout the dropped part. They were bolted to a pallet and the seat rail cracked.

When I sold the same set on Ebay, (I dunno, something about an unfinished project) I shipped them DHL, but I had the mail company box them properly to be able to handle a reasonable amount of handling. I guess I got lucky too because they arrived ok.
