So the car has tabs!!! Its almost road legal! All thats left is insurance. I'm still on my parents policy right now because i don't drive, but Pemco thinks a 21 year old male with a clean driving record and a good student discount driving a camaro is too high risk. So i need to get my own policy but am totally clueless as to who to go with. any recommendations? who do you all have and how much does it cost (if you don't mind)? thanks

| you pretty much insuring your DL with state min. required insurance. for people with one or more vehicles you can. use it for other vehicles not in your name (designated driver). you cannot use it for commercial or a vehicle that requires full coverage. |

| I'm Viking as well. $70/mo with no speeding but one Neglegent(taking corners too fast is ticketable, so I found the hard way). It also gets cheaper if you pay 6 months in advance. |

i'm using travellers.. but then again, I'm paying for full coverage at the moment ... but they're good people so far, haven't had any problems like I did with Progressive or even AIG (both of which wanted to raise my rates $100 for switching to another zipcode 2 miles down the road from where I was living previously...
edit
hmm... mikey told me he had edited a post, it took me awhile to realize it was this one, i was looking at other threads

173'ish for 6months in the camaro, thats everything but if I wreck it, it fixes it. Does have Liability, theft, vandalism, uninsured, tow, fire, medical.
286.37 for 6months in the GTP. Thats the works because they still think I'm paying on it. (huray for not, Regions bank can blow me, they suck)
As far as they know, I have always had a clean record The few times they checked, I was clean. I have lucked out and spaced all 7 of my speeding tickets to go around them checking. |

tickets suck. statistically, people who get more tickets cause more accidents, but i have NEVER caused an accident, so i feel that until i do my tickets should not affect my insurance. statistically people with bad credit also cause more accidents, but we passed a law in Oregon that says insurance companies can't use that anymore. (well, i voted for it, i can't remember if it passed) i think raising your rates for tickets sucks. they should only raise your rates if you actually go around plowing your car into people.
at this point in my life ( i am 23) i have spent more insuring my cars then i have paid for them, or put into them in parts. man insurance sucks. |

Hmm... kind of a quick estimation, but since I turned 16 I've spent around 11 grand in insurance, and maybe eight or nine grand on cars themselves... |

Kinda agree. Ive been driving just short of 16 years, and I think Ive only caused one, and it never touched my car so I didnt stop. Not even 100% I caused it. Only one wreck, it wasnt my fault. Ive backed into the house, rocks, pole, etc. But never claimed them. 7 speeding tickets though. I have fairly bad credit, but no cause for my insurance company to fork out.
Hum, cars vs insurance. Ive usually had fairly new cars. Just in cars alone(no parts or mods) rough est, Ive spent 62000 on cars. Divide that out, I'm looking at 3875 a year. Nope, more on cars then ins. |

| Your area makes a huge difference in price too. Back in 89 I was paying $120 a month for liability only on my chevelle. Then I moved to pullman, which is like a major metropolis compared to here, and my insurance dropped to exactly half that. I asked why and they said that the western side of the state is in a high risk area(considered same as seattle) and the entire eastern side, including spokane, is considered "farming" and thus low risk. Tried to keep my school address.. they wouldnt go for it. |

| Good idea Brandon. I think I will try to use my school address in Pullman to get my insurance down some more. |
