I finally got that cover over the well for my stereo system. Makes everything totally stealth and functions for protection as well. You can get in (if you can squeeze under the hatch) and sit on this without damaging anything underneath. Now I can pile my bats and stuff for softball on top and not worry about it Very Happy

The well uncovered...

Covered...

Here's the construction of the "top"...

For those that remember, this is what it looked like before the system upgrade...

Pretty nice man. I approve.

Do the tops fit in good like that? Looks like they would.

how bad does that muffle the sound?

I am thinking about building one for the lower half, to hide something down there Razz

The ear can't determine where low frequencies come from, so being just the sub under the cover it shouldn't make any difference.

Agreed. Unless it rattles or isn't tight. Then it could damper the sound. Looks to be mesh covered in gray speaker box carpet. Bass would go through that no problem.

Tops fit where they are supposed to as if the hinged cover was back there. No compromise in sound because it's covered with acoustic carpet. Its constructed of expanded metal (14 gauge I think) with a square tube steel frame, the grate is welded to the frame at every spot where it makes contact to minimize rattles, the carpet does the rest for rattles.

Sweet!! I just know alot of people that hide the speakers, then complain of loss of sound quality.
