But I did get a hell of a lot of work done on the IROC. At some point in that car's life it had had an alarm installed and at least three stereos. All of them were complete hackjobs, and the wiring was a literal nightmare. This is what the underdash looked like when I started this morning:

This is about halfway through the drivers side:

The amp harness in the trunk:

The battery line to the amp never actually ended up at the battery. The 10 gauge amp wire was wrapped around a 14 gauge wire (you can see the white to yellow in the pic) and then the yellow wire was crimped to a tab that was jammed into the ACC fuse on the fuseblock (what I'm pointing at):

This is the near-done "after" picture. The alarm and all stereos are gone, and I'm sporting a new ignition lockout. The three wire clips and the vacuum line are all the cruise control crap I am currently deleting.

This is the cruise diaphram. I belive Tony had dibs on it. You can also see the broken blinker stalk and wire, and the spare wire off the blinker stalk I replaced it with.

This, is all the crap that came out of the car. Seriously. I found two lines running from the battery to the trunk that were cut on both ends. I used one for the amp line and one for the ignition lockout.

I have a question for Tony on the cruise delete though.

I have the wiring harness unhooked at the diaphram, at the brake pedal, and at the blinker stalk. However I cannot find the "AC" marked box that controls the whole mess. All the wiring harnesses go up and join the main harness behind the dash, so I cant track them. Your TGO guide says it's on the passenger side, but I can't find it. Is it farther up by the ECM?

Also, how do you get the white thing off your brake pedal? I have an automatic, so the unit that releases the shifter when I step on the brake is in the way, and I can't figure out how to remove the cruise thing without messing the rest up. Confused

uhhh... you may have to temporarily remove your brake light sensor switch to get to the cruise control cut off switch. it should snap right back in.

and yes i would like your cruse control diaphram as well as the throttle cable if possable.

Cool, thanks man. I was looking to far to the right (where your boot is).

What I have out so far is what you see on the floor in the pic. I can get the harness and line from the brake pedal if you want it. I'm keeping the vacuum orb and lines to it since I have a vacuum controlled HVAC system. Everything worked perfectly when I tested it last summer. The only thing I don't have is the blinker stalk (mine's broken).

i won't need any vaccume lines or the wiring. this is for the GTA which already has cruise control. if you can though, the plug that goes to the diaphram and about 1-3' of it's wires would be awesome. that way if i have to lengthen the harness i can.

i am going to see if i can hide it under the front bumper so it is totally unseen. i will probably have to lengthen the throttle cable as well. it's going to be quite the project.

No problem. This is the longer cable anyway, since the camaro cruise was down by the washer fluid bottle.

In the next few days I'm going to go back and remove the rest of the cruise harness, so you should be getting at least the wires to the brake pedal.

BTW, one more question. The tape-wrapped harness that runs from the brake pedal to the diaphram, there is another bundle of about three wires that breaks off from that right before the harness ends under the hood, and goes up into the front clip by the drivers headlight. Any idea what that is or where it goes?

Heh. It's just a crappy JBL amp. Rolling Eyes I think the wires are red and white, or red and orange. I'm gonna check them again after work today.

BTW, Ian, I found a 50amp toggle switch you guys had on that rack and installed that. It seemed pretty beefy, so I'm not to worried about it.

Nonono, 50 amp toggle switch for the ignition. Laughing Pokey pokey

Tony, I highly doubt this amp is better than yours:

http://www.jbl.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=GTS150&CheckProduct=Y

I got it with the car and never bothered to change it out.

*Edit: Think I got the wires figured out. Wiring diagram says the upper wires are blinker, and the lower wires are the drivers headlight. No idea why Chevy wrapped them with the cruise wires. Will probably split the harness Monday afternoon.

Tony, do you need any other cruise parts while I'm digging around?
