Well,
Maybe we should take a vote. I have been accused in the past, of not doing stuff, i don't like to ban, or lock, or block things. BUT, I also don't run this group, I am just the admin of the board. The crew is a self-governing, self-propagating group, so its a group decsion. I'll let everyone descide what to do. |

It's never a popular job to carry out policy.... my vote is 'no'. |

quicktrip, clarify.
"no i don't want him banned"
or
"no i don't think he should be allowed to be a member"
i personally don't care ether way if a fox body owner or even someone who has been seen driving a miata posts here. Paul posts about his Jeep, John posts about his Audi, mrpopo posts about his truck (like a few other members he no longer has a thirdgen), Brandon posts about his truck as well. one of our favorite people (well, most entertaining) at gatherings has not owned a thirdgen since he has been with the crew. however I would not want a Fox-body or miata on a cruise with us. it would just not be right. it's not a third gen Fbody and that is what CC is about. on that note i could understand if we decided not to allow mustang owners to post here.
on the other hand, we have had 4th gens along for cruises, as well as a Ford Crown Victoria, a ford f-250, two different low-rider trucks, and dirty-Steve's mudbathfinder. i never took issue with any of those. on that note i don't realy see why he should not be allowed to participate.
so after all that typing... i am mostly undecided.
i think i would encourage fiveliterriceeater to show up at gatherings, so long as he leaves the rustang at home and rides with one of his Camaro buddies. _________________ 86' firebird (Junked in 2015). 88' GTA (sold in 2020).

Sorry for the confusion. My vote is 'no' he should not be a member unless he has had, or does plan to have some form of a GM F-body in the near future. That's the one thing we all have in common.
It's a policy decision - not a personal decision. I don't doubt that he is a nice guy. But I also don't think we should get into the business of evalutating worthiness for membership based on friendship or character. He's more than welcome to tag along during gatherings as an associate of a member. He's more than welcome to view the postings on the board. But I don't think he should be allowed to post as a member.
If the group vote is 'yes' then be prepared for a whole new purpose and focus for this forum. It will never again be a 3rd gen GM F-body club. It will become a muscle car forum with an even more undefined policy difficult to implement. And then it will become... ? Simply put, your tool to control the forum is proper policy and today is just another test among many. |

I'd say yes, let 'em, for what it's worth.
But why not just create a group of non-third-gen owners? Still a member, but not a third-gen owner. Maybe a tag-along membership or something. |

There are quite a few gen III/IV swaps in fox bods out there. In fact, I think there are more than lsx's in thirdgens!
Either way, nice fox. Head to the track? _________________

very well articulated and relevant point. i had not thought of it that way.
well fahv-oh, i guess you gotta sell that rustang and get an fbody. good news is you can then re-name yourself fivepointsevenlitericeater. in fact there is a nice GTA for sale on craigslist right now linked in our "fore sale" board. |

I undestand what everyone is saying and although he does own an arch nemesis to my brothers he does come in peace lol. Naw but on a serious note, if he is coming to just talk cars and hang I guess it's fine with me. Were all interested in the same things on here.
You should show up to a gathering, it has been awhile since I have snacked on a stang! _________________

Wow, that got technical real fast.
I don't think he's forcing himself into being a crewbie. Just wanting to hang out and BS. Which is cool with me. More the merrier. Hell, dirty-steve isn't a crewbie but he's a hell of a lot of entertainment!

How about the 20th then? We can all meet up some place and head up there? That is, if my car is back up on the road which it should be. |

yikes....ah...tough one.
I have been driving fords, but during all the time I'm on the crew board, I've always had a third gen, usually not in working order...
Not trying to be a dick, but I lean towards "no" because one of the "basic requirements" of the site, is to "own" a third generation F-body. I'm with john, in I don't like seeing people banned unless they're a complete tool.
I would say, showing up to gatherings (like the dyno, we can always use more cars!) is fine, like someone pointed out, Dirty Steve shows up, and he doesn't have an F body.
Lets give him a shot. There are mustang guys on TGO after all. _________________

dirty Steve once owned a 1983 Trans am. black and gold (am i right ian? was it an 82?) that he has since sold to some chick, who crashed it and left it to rot on the side if her house. |
