I am selling a 1990 IROC convertible for the asking price of 5500.00 OBO. Some of you saw it at the go cart track in Bothell last spring. The car has the following options -
- Dark blue paint, resprayed five years ago, factory color.
- Black top, decent shape, dosnt leak.
- Light gray interior, needs carpet kit and sail panels recovered.
- Fourth gen leatherette Trans Am seats, medium gray, power drivers, lumber not adjustable.
- Alpine? head unit and 6 disc changer mounted in trunck.
- Alarm with motion detector, two sets of keys and remotes.
- Like most IROCS its loaded, AC, tilt, power windows, mirrors, locks, etc..
- Front discs, rear drums.
- 16" factory wheels, all GM center caps installed, good dunlop rubber, 245 50 16
- 700 R4 auto tranny, shifts fine, fluid not burnt, rebuilt by second owner several years ago.
- Motor = rebuilt 400, not sure of mileage but dosnt smoke @ startup. TPI intake, all emmisions still there, direct swap.
I bought the car for my wife but she never drives it, been sitting in the garage for 2 years now. The second owner bought in the early ninetys and commuted to Portland with it. I am the third owner, I have the owners manual and some receipts for work the second owner had done.
The only reason I am selling is that I want a KTM 525 MXC dirt bike. I can email pictures, please contact me at dlpjr@verizon.net. |

Couple more things, the car drives fine, no issues I'm aware of. The previous owner used it for daily commuting. We have put about 100 miles on it since I bought it. The engine pulls hard until 3500 rpm, really needs an intake that can acomodate 400 CID engine. I am rambling but I would like to see some one that apreciates third gens buy it. |

Hello Schultz, good to hear from ya!
I hope it goes to some one like yourself, would make a great transplant for the stroker. From what I understand GM made +/- 700 IROC verts in 1990.... |

The guy I bought it from said thats what was installed after the 305 died.
It has center bolt valve covers so the heads are late model. The car pulls hard until 3800 rpm then labors. It definetly feels like the intake is choking a larger motor than a 305.
I have the following documentation that came with the car, the owners manual, owners manual supplement for convertible, Receipt for tranny rebuild, receipt for head unit, amp, and cd changer, and maintence log from 0 miles to 50,000 miles.
The transmission was rebuilt by Sea Tac transmission in december of 2000, has + / - 50,000 miles on it. |

I'd want to know what heads were used? Aftermarket? Are there any numbers on them? _________________

I don't think GM made any large chamber heads with centerbolt valve covers, but I'm not real sure of that.
A 400 would need some seriously dished pistons to keep the compression manageable with 64cc chambers. |

The heads are iron, hell, might even be off the 305. Like I mentioned earlier, I havent pulled any numbers off the block or heads, just relaying what I was told and driving impressions. I have had my scanner on it a couple times watching for knock retard, didnt see much but always run premium in it. Havent checked initial timing though. I really havent had the time, money or interest to play with this car, guess im still burned out from rebuilding my 1987 IROC.
The guy I bought it from new little about cars, lived in a huge house near Kirkland, and had a new Benz and Range Rover in the driveway. He was probably pushing fifty years old and his wife seemed happy to see it go while he was reluctant to sell it. |

The car is still up for sale. There is a black vert in the auto trader right now for more $$$ and looks like an RS in rough shape and yet no interest for 5.5k for mine, weird.

DLP you even have me interested (though I am trying to save for a house right now so I cant afford one ), but I think that a link to some pics would probably help you to recieve interest in the car. |

No problem Z, i am no hurry to sell, if the price and person fits, ill sell it. I sent some pics to you @ dan@....., let me know if you got em. I can send more if you would like.
Dont mind the stain on the floor, thats partiallly from my other car and from changing the oil filters on my trucks. Why does chevy INSIST on mounting oil filters horizontal on 4 wheel drive trucks???. Pull the filter and the oil drains out on the skid plates, need a 4' wide catch pan. |
