welcome to parts bin engineering, and likely dealers asking for an option for a customer ect.

My car has a baffled fuel tank, that was supposedly only available on a 1LE car.

I don't think, in fact I'm pretty sure that no Camaros came with anything other than the various styles of rims they got through the years. The wheels you are describing don't sound stock to me... But they could possibly have been put on the car by the dealer before or immediately after it was bought. Shrug

I'd be willing to bet that O.Z. Racing wasn't even around in '88.

No sir, they've been around since '71. I heard from someone that these wheels were put on the IROC Indy Pace Cars in '88, but I was thinking that maybe they put these wheels on certain special cars; such as my dad's '88 which was used in the Seafair parade.

while this may (i have no clue) be true, many other lesser known races were raced every year, all had to be paced by somthing. i am sure fbodys were used alot. just because there is no GM "pace car" edition does not mean cars of that year/make/model did not pace a race.

Almost sound like the GTA-esque crosslace wheels.

Didn't some TTA's pace Indy in 89?

The better pic would have been of the indianapolis 500 badge on the fender of the TTA.

Well I don't know... My dad said some guy mentioned it to him when he called the factory, so he very well could have been wrong. I'm just wondering if they ever put those on a Camaro at the factory for special events.

Anyway, they do look a lot like the GTA crosslace wheels. I don't exactly have any plans for the car... Other than taking it out for a drive on nice days every now and then. I have a white '88 standard Camaro with a 2.8 in it that I use as my driver, so I don't need to drive the IROC. My name is Markas, by the way, and my dad's name is Charley. The car is essentially his right now, but he was planning on letting me drive it this summer upon my graduating.

Cool Markus. Thanks for sharing.

I look forward to meeting you at a gathering sometime this year.

I hear ya. The way gatherings work with this club is that when someone has a desire to get together they post up the details on the gathering board and those that can make it do. Often there will be localized events like a quick dinner, attend swap meets and such. Other times we plan entire weekends with activities, cruises, dragstrip, car shows, etc. and people come from all over the Pacific Northwest to participate.

We do have a few major gatherings that have been going for about 6 years. Party With The Cows in early June and Dyno Day (normally January/February).

Last year we had a blast. In addition to the two gatherings listed above we also had a gathering in Seattle and a great cruise up to BC Canada.

This is a great group with good collective knowledge but getting together in person is really the best way to get to know people. Most of us can't make all of the gatherings but I encourage you to make at least one if you can.

Enjoy!
