| I have an 86 camaro and its got a posi 2.73 right now. I am looking at swapping to 3.73. I am in the portland / vancouver area. I am curious what shops you guys would recommend, and an idea of what they would charge. Would there be any advantage from going to a 3 series carrier or over using the 2 series that I already have? Is there anything else I should have the shop do while they are in there to maybe give the rear a little more strength? |

I would ask some of the local auto shops around and see who they normally take their gears to and see whom has a good rep. around there. There are other things you could do to make the rearend stronger but even with all the strengh added they are still not very strong. What kind of motor is propelling this?
Stud girdle, upgraded axles, and solid pinion spacer are just a couple of extra you can do to make the rear stronger as well as welding the axle tubes fully. _________________

| The car has a strong running 350 and a built 700r4. The type of tires I plan on hooking up to this car are regular street tires. Will this rear hold up to that? |

The street tires part if where your going to let your rear end survive. Having the tires break loose a bit is going to help it instead of dead hooking. I had a 7.5 with a 700 built up. I had everything you could do to the 10 bolt and some and the first time at the track with sticky tires the car launched and I didn't even make it to the 60' lol. Keeping some looser rubber is the ticket to letting your rear end survive. Of course some will say that theirs has held up but basically it is just a matter of time before theirs goes as well. _________________
