Well bad bad bad weekend so far lol, plans where to test fire the engine this weekend and that was stoped very fast. looks as though i got by info from my engine build and now I need to pull the engine back out of the car, mess with getting 1 intake bolt out for a hour since my fogger is in the way then take the heads off and the pan and yes flip all of my pistons on the rods since the reliefs are facing down not up and right now every valve hits the pistons so ya bad bad weekend so far lol. but whiles it out ill put all my new susp on the car and im junking the brand new hyd cam in the engine now and going bigger and mech roller so im trying to look at this the best i can but darn it its a pain to pull that engine lol.
end of rant

That sucks man. Building it twice is never fun. Similar instance here with my 383. The balance shop screwed me hardcore. They ended up paying $250 towards gaskets and bearings and polishing the crank. So you're definately not alone! _________________ 1990 IROC-Z, 383 HSR, 3.70 9-Bolt

That is nasty Nathan. Hey at least you caught it before major damage was done right? (I really hope that is right).
Why the cam swap?

Well if he thinks like me, no car repair is complete without an upgrade. It makes the whole job much more tolerable to have something to look forward to. Otherwise... it's just plain work. |

ahhh and I would be quick to agree. I was just assuming that the cam was chosen for the new engine as part of an overall plan and was curious why you would change up the plan before being able to see how it panned out.

ya no major damage was done thank god lol. I wanted to go roller in the first place but didnt have the money and went cheap on a off the shelf hyd flat tappet. its not really perfect for the engine but its not to bad but the rpms i plan on spinning it to a hyd flat tappet is not my best choice. plus it seems about a 50 50 change of wiping a lobe on a flat tappet cam and if im taken this engine out i want to put the roller in and i dont have to worry about taken the motor out again to clean metal out of it lol. plus like said above it gives me somethen to look forward to lol.

im going to get ahold of a few more companys but a custom grind mech roller, most of the rollers do not have very good lobe seperation, i want a little more for the nitrous but somewhere in the .610int .620exh on atleast a 110 lobe sep but would like 112. so its new valve springs new roller lifters and new cam going to cost about 700 or so maybe alittle more to much but o well _________________ 86 firebird

Im not trying to be sound like an @ss or anything but didn't you turn the motor over before you went thru the hassle of installing it in the car? Or did you build most of it in the car? Thats a bummer all the same, I hate having to do something twice when I didn't even get to enjoy it the first time! What hydraulic cam did you go with in the beginning? _________________
