This was shown to me last spring when I went to a class in Florida. The guy was obviously trying to haul everything to build a new home in (and on) his Jetta, in one trip.
I just found it again and the complete story is here http://www.swapmeetdave.com/Humor/Workshop/Overload.htm |

Something seems very fishy about the entire pile of wood still being neatly stacked with just little strands of string holding it. |

There was one several years ago with a tiny little car loaded with concrete mix and other supplies. The shocks blew through the shock towers and the car was pretty much slammed to the ground. |

| I think it's the same car. Read the article, they mention that. |

No way that pics not altered. Look at the shape of the front wheel, plus like Jon pointed out that string isn't going to keep that unit on there. |

Sorry Rod, but looks like this was proved true on Snopes. They originally didnt believe the photo either, but other photos were taken by different people and several eye witness reports as well as a local paper.

I stand corrected, that's freaking cool. I can't believe it could even move. |

I still don't believe it. That roof would be crushed, so would the rear window and rear door windows. Look at the line that the lumber follows! There's no way that the rear C pillar is intact. Not to mention they are aftermarket rims not rated for that kind of load. Even if the rims were rated at 1600lbs (thats alot) they would break with the cars weight plus the 3000lbs worth of load. The car car would be distroyed. Not to mention I've worked at a lumber yard, and there is no way to get that stack of stick lumber AND 20 something sheets of OSB in a near PERFECT stack. This is one of the best PhotoShop'ed images I've seen. _________________ E30

I gotta agree with Travis and Rod.......this is completely a photoshopped image. Physics alone says all that *edit* WOOD */edit* should have slid straight off the back of that car by the angle its at. _________________
