I have the Pro 5.0 / Lous short stick combo on my 95. The throw is very precise, and has a firm kind of a click as it goes into each gear, I think its the perfect feel for the 6-speed. _________________ '88 Formula

I second the Pro 5.0. I made my own stick as the stocker is too tall and doesn't come out in the right spot in the Fbody with an LS1 T56.
Mine is a little sticky in neutral between the 1/2 and the 3/4. Kind of sticks in the 1/2 slot rather than popping back over to the center 3/4. Might be trans though.
Either way I think you're safe with any shifter so long as it has the positive stops. I didn't noticed much difference with the Pro 5.0 from the stocker but again this is LS1 T56 not LT1 so I don't know if the shifters are better/worse. |

| I would go with either Hurst or Pro-5.0. I have the pro5.0 on my T5, and I have driven Alloy's car with the Hurst, they are both nice peices. |

| speaking from a strictly knowledge perspective (no actual experiance) the Pro 5.0 and Hurst use ALL machined components, where as the B&M did not make that assurance on thier website. i don't know that they do not, i just don't know that they do. so if you realy RIP on that shifter you are going to want one with machined components, not cast or pressed garbage. |

| I have the B&M and it is nice, but I will be upgrading to a 5.0 this year and giving the Ripper to Jen for her Birdie. It is good quality, I just like the feel that the others have with the 5.0. |

As Dewey said about my car.........the Hurt is nice, very nice. Other than SFC's, this is probably one of the best mods I've ever done to my car. Much better than the stock "mystery" shifter. (It's a mystery how the hell I ever got it in gear with it before I got the Hurst)
Another great mod I did today was the door hinge pin kit |

Not meaning to hijack the thread......I used the kit from TDS. The greasable ones.
I used my engine crane and two nylon lifting straps to hold the door. Worked fantastic. I used my high speed air die grinder and a carbide burr to zip the heads of the rivets off. Took about 45 seconds to do this for each one. The lower bushings were difficult to get out, along with pounding on the lower hinge pin for 20 mins to get it to move at all. I also took the door panel off and pulled down the weather stripping in the front top of the door to get at the top hinge easier. It went pretty well until I tried to get the bushings to "slip" in the top hinge like the instructions said. No way.........I used his little sand paper thing he supplied............but hard to remove metal with sand paper. The holes in the upper hinge are made with a punch press. So the +- .001 fit they talk about didn't work considering punched holes are usually +- .005. So, took the upper hinge off the body and used my die grinder again and made the bushings an easy slip fit, then loctited them in.
I had the tool for the door spring and that went easy. The kit includes both upper and lower hinge pins. After the small problems I encountered and I got it back together I'm very pleased with the results. The door is easily closed now, and has a great solid sound when closed. There is NO play at all in the door when I try to lift it. |

| I had a Hurst on the '94 Vette with a Momo handle. It worked well but took a lot of effort to shift. It was not for people with a soft touch. A really nice feature was that it had an audible *click* when it was locked in gear. Didn't realize how nice that was until I went drag racing. I could still hear it through a well padded helmet. Very nice since hearing senses become nearly useless with an open header car next to you. |
