My camaro did exactly that when i first bought it, i found out it was the engine temperature sending unit. You mean you just think it's not getting fuel, or you have done tests like check the fuel pressure? _________________ Towed amaro, 2nd engine blown spent $1500 not spending more. | We need to know what the fuel pressur is to diagnose their are too meny factors otherwise. |

| this sounds EXACTLY like a bad fuel pump. Vatozone sells fuel pressure guages for 20$. i believe they also rent them (you put down a deposit which they refund when you return it) |

hmm.. i would recommend changing your fuel filter, and try to keep it started with starting fluid. are you sure the tank even has gas in it. if so, and the filter does not work, id say either clogged lines, or you need a pump. _________________ Towed amaro, 2nd engine blown spent $1500 not spending more. | Depends on what you want to do: If you want to randomly throw money at it, buy the fuel filter. If you want to throw targeted money at it, rent a fuel pressure gauge. |

If you have no access to a fuel pressure gage just check to see if their is any flow un hook the fuel line just before the fuel filter attach a rubber hose to a clean cleat bottel to catch the gas(clean that way you can be cheap and put it back in the gas tank) watch how much fuel runs in to it if none or just a trickel then your definetly chasing a fuel pump problem then test it electricaly. if it flows out fast then it still might be the fuel pump not puting out enough pressure or it could be a fuel filter.
danked why did you tell him to throw parts at it that is stupid and unnessary. if that is how you fix cars you deserve them to blow-up on you. _________________

| Don't these cars just have a schrader valve to check pressure. If your in a bind just use a tire air pressure guage. Like 2 bucks at a gas staition. |

| I don't think that will work. its a -4AN fitting, with a check ball. Not a valve like a tire. |

Oh, my bad. My pickup has one that you can use a regular tire guage. |

Can a tire gauge read high enough, to measure deisel pressure? |

Deisels run a lower pressure higher flow from the tank to an injection pump then higher pressure lower flow to the injectors.
so you can check the lower pressur side easly.
deisels will run two to three fuel pumps
generally called fuel pump(intank)
Lift Pumpor transfer pump(between tank and injection pump)
Injection pump(increases the pressure and controls injectors on some models) |

| It's only 35 -40 psi after the pump. The pressure is actually made in the injector. The injectors use the engine oil to work like hydraulics to pump the fuel into the engine. Not 100% sure of all this yet, just kind of what I understand at this point. Pretty cool system though. Unlike most diesels it has no injection pump, just a supply to the injectors. Doesn't even have a throttle cable. |
