Haven't heard of a 700R4 that you couldn't lock up. TCI makes a nice vacuum regulated lockup for them. If he has paperwork it's worth more than his asking price if it just came out of the shop.

Not sure if things need to be gone through again after that time has passed on the shelf. Guess it depends on how well lubed it was put together with.

That's what was bugging me. I'm gonna roll up there tomorrow and check it out. Is there anything I can do to freshen it up, or do I have to take it to a shop and have it flushed before I install?

Well, I actually think I'm going to just have a shop flush it and install it. I really hate to spend the extra cash, but right now I have absolutely nowhere to work on the car, and no time to screw around with it.

I checked the tranny out today. It's in good shape. I offered to pay him $825, and put $40 down on it. Pick it up on Monday, and hope to get it installed by the end of the week.

So tell me guys, what's going wrong next:

1) Engine siezes
2) Headgasket (for real this time Wink

)
3) Wreck
4) Trans turns out to be a POS

If you have the money to spend upwards of almost $900 why don't you buy a 5 speed and swap that in? I have the petals and hydraulics I could sell you cheap....because I seriously want them gone.

If I didn't want to drive hard, I would have bought a Toyota Corolla and gotten 35mpg.

I want to do a 6-speed swap eventually, but I don't have the cash for it, and I don't have the driveway to do a 5-speed swap right now. Bashy Bashy

Gonna drop the cash to have a shop inspect, flush, and install the new one. Swapping trannys in the street in front of a buddies house is probably a lot less fun than it sounds like.

when i do my 5speed swap i will have a working 700r4 to get rid of. it is "on it's way out" acording to experts, but does not slip yet. i would be willing to let it go for the same ammount of money a builder would give me for it (it is a post 87 and builders like those). it would probably last you at least 4months if you are nice to it. perhaps longer.
