I saw a set of these at work last week and thought I had to have a set too. Today I went to the Department of Licensing and ordered the new set, so until they come in, I am on a temorary paper tag.
Here's what they look like on the DOL site. I like them because they have an unfurled American Flag as the background.
I will also have a retired sticker to go under the Navy Seal.

Tony, SMPLE is short for SAMPLE, as in, that plate is a SAMPLE of what it will look like. |

Not as much "custom" as "special edition, or specialty." Simple for simple minds - we're easily amused I'll end up with a number there, paperwork says 00807. _________________ 92 Camaro

I've seen quite a few of those around town after they released them. I can think of a LOT of better ways to spend $40 though. However they are still a pretty unique idea.
BTW, Ian, did I see a National Guard plate on Arly's Vette the last time I was out at 56th? |

After Al's service in the Navy I think they are perfect. |

I doubt it. I could be wrong but I thought he was a squid. I've been wrong before though.
Custom plates are awesome. But now people will forever be asking you what it means. _________________

Let them ask If they can't figure out what U.S. Navy Retired means, then screw 'em
I used to have the U.S. Veteran sticker on my last plate (not my current one) and the most I was asked was where I got it. _________________ 92 Camaro

They came in today and look better than the "SMPLE" sample. Nevermind the dirt undrneath as I just finished driving home in the rain
