Has anyone heard of Ohtsu HS401G's? Falken bought Ohtsu's street performance tire so "Ohtsu" just makes commercial tires now. Les Schwabs has a set of these HS401G's and I think I want to get them. Could anyone tell me if they are a good tire or not? I'm autocrossing with these and they will be my main tire.

Ohtsu HS401G
245/45ZR16
Tread: 160
Trac: A
Temp: A

Price $120/ea

Do you need to drive them on the streets, or are do you trailer the car there?

Generaly Hoosier A compounds, and Kuhmo V710's are considered the fastest 2 tires you can run for auto-x.

Also, with a treadwear rating of 160, you won't be able to run your car in any classes that are streat tires classes, like SM or STX.

Last thing, is check with your sactioning body's, only certain tires are allowed for diffrent classes, based on the production number, and number of sizes produced, to determine if it is a legal solo2 tire.

Just a couple of things to cheack. I have no experiance with that tires, so I have no clue how it would compare to the V710 or hoosiers.

I'll be street driving this tire and I also race in a street class. The lowest tread wear you can go for SoloII is 140 by what I read. Plus with the rim size I want to run, its hard to find a tire that will fit! They don't make the V710's in 245/50r16's and the Hoosiers are 200 a piece Shocked

I should've taken a pic of the tread on the Ohtsu's, they're impressive. Its an all season tire that are borderline superswampers! Kinda knobby, but looks like they have more contact area than my 18's.

As long as it is on the approved tire list, for your class, it might be worth trying it. But, there are some funny rules about tires you are allowed to run in the street tire classes, and if that tire may or may not be legal. It is probably best to check with your tech steward for your region, and make sure it is legal.
