Well,
It looks like we are going racing this Friday.
with the old wrecked car.
Gutted it last night, getting ready to put a lexan windshield in.
High School Drags....
Found a flatbed trailer to haul it.
Going to cut the exhaust off.
Kid wants to run it, so we will see what it does.
Don't have any extra money right now to do any last minute mods to her.
So.
Any suggestion on anything I Can do to her???
Trying to find a pair of slick to use, but so far nada. If not we will just run street tires.
Your input wanted.

Yes it look bad, did you get it fixed?
I was looking for some pointers, or if there was some kind of adjustment I could do to the suspention, tires and stuff.

Don't know yet, early as posible, I get off about 3:00pm.
maybe I'll leave early.
It depend on when and if we can get a piece of plexy or lexan in for the windshield. It all hinges on that one piece.

I won't get off work until 830ish so I doubt I'll be going.
Where are you getting the plex/lex? Steve (the guy that was with me when we dropped the cutout off), his dad plays with signs and lex/plex all day. You have a source for the stuff? |

Ian,
If you are really interested in a Lexan front windshield, call Chuck at 888 737 2970. That is Percy's autoglass. Ask him, if they have any Blem windshields for thirdgens. Some of the guys on FRRAX have gotten blem shields for like $140. They are so tight on quality control there, that a blem windshield is so close to perfect, you usualy cannot find the blemish.

I called NHRA They said it only had to be 1/8 thick, so I think the kid is getting it from school.
Anyone going to the high school drags this friday????????
Got to be some one or some of you high school students racing....
should be fun |

| I'm probably going to go down to the T&T tomorrow night. New O2 sensor and plugs have got it running pretty damn good. Hoping for a flat 14. |

Well the car is gutted, except for the driver’s seat. Looks really ugly LOL...
Exhaust coming off today, new windshield install also being started today.
Drove it a little last night. This car has lots and lots of torque, at least.
Sitting there without power braking it, and you mash the pedal, it will smoke the tires for about 60 feet before it hooks up.
How the heck is that going to work on the strip?
will it be a bit sticky on the track??
If I use the street tires will it spin them on the green light?
If so how do I get around that to be consistent on the starts?

Scott,
Chances are you traction issues will be worse at the track on street tires (i know I have less grip there).
The key is throttle control and feel, this is where the driver comes into drag racing. YOu need to use the maximum ammoutn of throttle, without lighting up the tires. |

I was worried about that.
So take off easy and drive hard.
Is there something I can do to put more down force on the rear when mashing the gas pedal?
How about a taller and wider set of street tires??? More surface on the track right |

no, it actualy isn't more surface. Contact patch size is determined by air-pressure. You can manipulate the shape of it, by the height/width of the tire. Really, the key is practice. There are mods you can do, but on this short of a time-line, they are not really doable.
One quick thing you can do, is unbolt the ront sway bar when you get to the track, that will help transfer weight to the rear.
Also, air down the tires just a bit at the track, I would lower them to say 20-25psi in the rear. Leave your fronts at normal pressure. |

i am gonna air down this weekend. (i am going to the track again). i will leave my swaybar on though, just cause my GFX will make it hard to put back on.

| If you are trailling it up there, take it off before you go. It is not needed at all. I just wouldn't suggest driving it aroudn town with it off. |

My buddy Steve has driven his lifted pathfinder without a swaybar for a few years. Man is that thing crazy to drive! Scary, gotta get used to it. |
