So I finally got a new car last September to replace the GTA I sold back in 2004. Smile

2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder "Remix Edition"

2.4L SOHC I4 (147 HP @ 5500, 158 TQ @ 4000)
4 Speed "Sportronic" Auto with O/D
4-wheel independent suspension
Rack and pinion power steering
Front and rear stabilizer bars
Front strut tower brace
Coil springs
Power brakes (vented disc on the front, drum on the rear)
Chrome wheels
Leather interior with titanium finish on the metal parts
210 watt AM/FM Infinity stereo with in-dash 6-disc CD changer
Convertible with glass window and rear defroster
Platium Pearl color
3" chrome exhaust tip
Dual airbags
Side impact beams
Fog lamps
Keyless entry with alarm
Locking floor mats (I *really* like this, I can't stand it when they start wandering! Mad)

10 year / 100,000 mile powertrain warranty
5 year / 60,000 bumper-to-bumper warranty
5 year / unlimited mileage roadside assistance
7 year / 100,000 mile anti-corrosion warranty

Bought with 11 miles on the clock, full dealer price was $29,439, got it out the door for $24,700, and had it paid in full in 3 months (I had some extra cash I had saved up). I put in the token K&N filter, and will do the Amsoil conversion (at least at the oil level) once the car's finished breaking in to improve efficiency and reliability.

I have some more pics of the interior and the rear, let me know if you want to see more. Smile

I'll have to second that.

As a dealer, with no offense meant, I think they got you right center mass with that price.

Dead on Arrival.

Hmm... so let me see. You bought a rice burner... without a manual, without a turbo, and even without a DOHC. Confused

Yup, got tired of getting assraped at the pump every 8 days, in addition to the GTA nickel and diming me to death with repair needs every 2-3 months. I had a change in priorites, and sadly, I had to make a decision and say goodbye to it, plain and simple. I also grew tired of inheriting other people's problems (read: buying used/"certified" pre-owned cars).

Why get a manual for something I commute and go to the store with? I'd rather get a circuit warrior if I wanted an "experience" like that.

Eclipses haven't come with turbos or DOHC since 2000.

Pray tell, could you get me one for the same price as a Kia Spectra OTD?

And even if I got reamed, I know I didn't get it as bad as a buddy I work with that paid 32K for an 02 WRX, or another that paid 29K for an 03 Accord.

Age doesn't have a direct balance with intelligence, at least not in my part. (nice pic mcgee!) I totally can see into the "stealer" dealer cliche, it does exist. I've grown up on a lot, a muscle car lot that my father has run since before I was born. However, both him and I buy for the bigger boy lots, the evil corporate ones like Lithia and Barrier of Bellevue, we get them used cars, much like your eclipse there.

All I can say is Kia is crap, and you know that. Don't think I meant you should of paid a kia price tag, merely that it seems to me that you could of done much better in the used market than at a lot. Besides, with all the anti dealer sentiment, it would make more sense to me for someone to be looking for privates rather than the big boy franchises.

Reamed isn't the word for it, if you got reamed you would of bought a hyundai or a kia.

The reason why stealers do so well is convenience. Much like Mcdonalds kills people with cheap double cheeseburgers, dealers exist and profit off of convenience and the ability to finance those without the funds to get an auto they deserve.

And for the record, your friends 29k dollar accord will sell a lot faster than your other friends WRX. So he's not too bad off in that respect

Just my .02 cents I never meant to offend you with my first post.

Oh, and about my sportronic right hand, yes I still have the hot girlfriend but she's not around 24/7. nuff said
Wink
