Well,
I took two plugs out yesterday, they are Autolites, 26's two heat range higher than stock.
The insulators are pretty much bone white, no tan at all, except maybe some shadowing lines that are dark.
Electrode and arcing wire are clean as a whistle.
The threads are a little black; they must stick out a bit into the cylinder?
What do you think?
Its been driven for about a week maybe two, shouldn't they be nice and tan?
I drove it last night, we have been taking it easy on the car, but I was going about 35mph floored it, broke the tires loose, (it was a little damp out) and Bang, felt like I hit a bump in the road, but there was no bump or hole in the road.
Got the car home, crawled under it and found the transmission rubber mount is cracked through, looks like it’s in pieces.
Any thoughts?
It was good when we put it in with the motor, but its toast. I ordered another along with front calipers. (Needs brakes)
So will that broken trani mount feel like a bump in the road when you get on it a little?
Also, I changed some settings in the prom. 65 ecm 6e mask.
I changed several that have to do with iac, I wish I could give you some screen shots of what Iam talking about, software is on a different
Computer. One of the setting was 160 (iac) changed it to 40,
Idles way better when going ito gear, doesn't want to die any more at least in the driveway.
What is DEFCO in the mask? There is a bunch that have to do with it.??
Oh, I need that 3.5 cutout.
Thanks
scott

DEFCO is Deceleration Fuel Cut-Off. It turns the injectors off above a certain RPM, you you let off the gas.
As for the Tranny mount, the stock ones suck, and break all the time. I would order poly mount from Energy suspension, I beleive Summit sells them, you can probably order one from you local Baxtors also. |

It’s an automatic,
When I step on it, I can also feel something hitting the center console.
So you don't think the bump upon acceleration is the trani mount?
shoot maybe the motor mounts are bad as well?
Thanks

I remember that thunking from my 87. Stab the gas....THUD! *girlie scream* AH! What the hell was that?!
I'll try to bring the cutout to work with me today if you want to stop by and take a look at it. I'm doing freight tonight so 5:00-11:00. |

Almost guaranteed. So common it is almost a rite of passage. Welcome to the other side Kinda nice to have one of those problems every once in a while. Cheap 'n Easy.

Put a new cheep one on last night, bump is gone.
But I ordered another from summit, one of the nice ones.
Had to take my prom back out, the one with the modified iac commands.
Problem is I changed about 4 different things, need to do it again, one thing at a time.
Thanks

Yep that's the bump alright. Only time I broke a mount was doing a reverse 180 and put it in gear too quick. Snapped it right in two LOL.
There are lots of IAC tables. Did you change the iac park table, or the iac vs rpm/coolant table? Definitely do one thing at a time, or you'll just chase your tail. Especially when it's something mechanical lol like a fuel pump... add more and more fuel and it doesn't get any richer lol. |
