Not sure if the article mentions it, but the rear is wider, so you need wheels with bigger back space to look right. Then you need like 2" adapters for the front too. |

| it says they will stick out an extra two inches.... that sucks, my tires will stick outside the wheel wells by 3/4 - 1/4 of an inch. i love the looks of stock wheels on thse cars too.... damn! can you change the gears (actual posi stuff) out and put it in a thirdgen rear? would this be too dificult for the average joe to attempt? |

well, i have fount three picture over at tgo of 4th gen conversions (searched for "4th gen rear stock wheels" if anyone wants to look) and two of the three looked fine, actualy looked realy cool how the wheels atualy came out all the way. looked way better then stock. one had wheels about an inch out past the lip, looked like ass (his were aftermarket however)
so anyway. i think this would be a cool mod. i might want to purchase this from you, i will get back to you in a day or two |

I'm currently running a 2000 Camaro rear end in my 86 and have had the stock rear wheels on it. They do stick out past the rear fender lip and at certain angles it looks wrong/dumb. You could run them though if you wanted but you would have to be very careful that at full compression of the suspension the tire doesn't contact the fender well lip and distroy your tire. On a side note I bought some stuff off Alex earlier this month and it was an excellant transaction. Great guy to deal with.

I've got a 4thgen rear in mine. I hate how it positions the tires.
You can kind of see it here... It's worse in person. Makes the 245's look NARROW.

I think having the tires sticking out from the wheel wells is cool...except for the mud is slings up on the rear quarter panels...just my opinion. _________________

mud? what are you driving through dirt roads in hazard county??
IANSANE: do you think it would be worth it to save my $$ toward a posi conversion for my stock rear. my 2.8 cant use 3.23 gears anyway. too tall, wouldent even move and i LOVE my stock wheels (well, not my stock wheels, i have bowling ball TA wheels in th eworks ) |

It's all about what you want. You can see what I did. I had the stock 10bolt in there and just swapped 'em out. It was easier for me because I'm not into the gear swap thing yet. (although I'll have to learn for this car and my blazer). What brakes do you have on it? Are you looking for a disc conversion as well? It'd be easier to swap the whole rear. Although now I'm just looking for some cheap 17" ws6 wheels. to fix the wheel position issue.
If you're going to be running a 7" wide wheel they'll look like toothpicks spaced out as far as they will be.
And I hit muddy spots all the time and yes, it does spray on my quarters. It sucks all the construction they're doing around here. Even when I don't hit mud there is a thick road film spray pattern on my quarters. It's real bad right now because I haven't had a chance to wash it. |

| I don't know if they will or not. I wrecked my 4th gen, and its just getting parted out now. And yes, shipping on these is about 150-200 after you crate it. |

how much $$ if i come to you?
my brother was just up from Kfalls and before he left again we were talking about my firebird buildup (he is real exited for me to join the "boost club") and he was saying that if i got this rear he would be happy to weald the disc brake backing plated into my 3rd gen rear with his ass kicking wealder/ ass kicking wealder skillz (his wealding skills kick 3.. maybe even 4 kinds of ass.) and i should be able to do the gearing work myself. |
