All put together again and washed.
I still need to recover the seat and charge the A/C. First I think it might have a towing job tomorrow though.
Just a hair under 2k@70mph. Can't wait to see what kind of mileage I get!

What is the little digital screen behind the steering wheel?
Now I see two screens, one high and one low. |

The one up high is a ScanGauge 2, I use it to display OBD2 data and instant fuel economy numbers. Biggest reason it's up there is for transmission temp reading from the PCM.
The lower screen is a Tekonsha Prodigy 3 trailer brake controller. Top of the line unit, it works great. To the right of it is my airbag pressure gauge and compressor control system, but you can't see it behind the steering wheel.
I also have a momentary button below the stereo over there to activate the Tow/Haul mode shift map. This truck is just chock full of technology! _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Doing work for the first time post-swap!
I got 18.5mpg at 75mph on the way down to Oregon with the trailer empty and 15mpg on the way back at 70mph and ~10k GVW.
Seems to get around 22mpg with a 10/90 city/highway mix driving back and forth to work. All-around an impressive improvement from the old 350/TH350 combo. So, how long in fuel savings will it take to make my swap money back? Let's see... Carry the 1... Divide by zero... About 17 years.
I also threw codes for Bank1 and Bank 2 Too Lean the other day, long term fuel trims were +15-20%. I did some research and it turns out the entire Gen3 Vortec line is known for leaky intake manifold gaskets, so I threw a set of redesigned metal ones in. Fuel trims are now around +10%, better but not perfect. Hmm...

I've been enjoying the hell out of the truck. I charged up the A/C and have 37* vent temps; gotta love the old man features. I also swapped a sport bumper onto the back to get rid of my crusty, peeling chrome step bumper. A recovered bench seat and door panels greatly improved the interior.
The Camaro might be up for a bit of work soon, so stay tuned.

Well, I just can't leave a good thing alone I guess.
I popped on over to my father-in-law's shop today for a little look-see under the pick-em-up truck. I figure at full droop, this is about what it'd look like at stock height.
Up, up and away! Let's just have a look under here, shall we?
Hmm, everything looks OK back here too.
Wait a sec, we'll zoom in and focus on ye olde exhaust piping. It works... but it's kind of uninspiring. Chop that crap right out!
I stumbled across some pipe, a muffler, a catalytic converter and a welder while I was just minding my own business over here. Oh well, guess I better make use of all this garbage. Start building a merge.
By the power of internet forums, you guys get to skip ahead to the fun part. Merge to 3" pipe, into a Magnaflow high-flow catalytic converter and a Magnaflow muffler, out to a polished stainless tip. V-bands included for extra easy disassembly next time; the old exhaust was only removable via sawzall and that didn't sit right with me.
Now, job well done, lower the truck and drive away! (Think they'll notice I re-used this picture?)
It sounds mucho bettero now, dead quiet at cruise but the Magnaflow trademark howl is present and accounted for. Doesn't smell like raw fuel at stoplights, and lowend torque appears to be somewhat improved as well judging by my before and after brakestand tests. See, we're all about the scientific method here.
That's all for now folks, see you next time. We'll be switching gears and putting some effort into the old Camaro in a bit.
