Transmission is in! I cut the floor, installed the shifter and console and everything fits. Now I will have to remove the carpet so I can do the necessary work to put the floor boot in place and cover the gap in front of it. |

I've been waiting for this modern Ice Age to end so I can tinker again. Still waiting. |

We lost our snow about two weeks ago and it finally got warm enough to be in the garage this weekend.
I installed a set of Hotchkis springs. FINALLY, I have a set of springs that fits the BMR spring pockets. Although, saying it fits is a bit generous. It squeezed in tight. But at least the front isn't slammed on the ground any more and I can get rid of those ridiculous drag springs.
I also ordered up an intake u-built-it kit. Unfortunately, the MAF I chose is a bit large on the outer diameter and the couplers for 4" pipe won't fit. Does anybody know where I can get a cheap reducer coupler in a 4" --> 4-1/4" size? The one I found is $66 and I think that is outrageously expensive! |

That's actually about right. The Chinese only mass-produce popular sizes, so if you need something oddball you will pay through the nose. I think I paid $50 for the 3.75"->2.5" coupler going into my throttle body. |

Well that's a bummer.
I am ordering coolant lines tonight. From what i can tell, the hot ticket is Jeep Cherokee lower hose (Dayco D71321) and a 3.4L 4th gen upper hose. Is that what you guys hear, too? |

Well I'll be damned. I actually went through the catalogs of all the usual suspects for cheap sillycone and couldn't find one in that size. |

I swear I had told you about intakehoses.com when you first started putting together your turbo build? I bought all of my stuff from them. The downside is paying sales tax since they're in Spokane. |

You probably did.
I primarily used SIS (siliconeintakes.com) couplers for the last few cars, with some Vibrant and some other brands mixed in. |

I hope you didn't order any hoses yet. I didn't see this earlier.
The Cherokee lower line is said to fit OK but rub against the idler bolts on the frame. The real hot ticket is in this post on TGO. I used the Ford lower radiator hose and trimmed it and it fits absolutely perfectly. It's for the 460 model in those years. I haven't tried the V6 upper radiator hose because the factory '02 Camaro LS1 upper hose fit perfectly and I already had it. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Ya, you're right about the upper hose. The LS1 4th gen hose works well and sits in the 3rd gen support on the upper shroud. It also clears 4" intake tube at the throttle body. You can guess that I did try the 3.4L hose and I can tell you that it does not work well (it goes in the "things to sell" pile). It is too long, has wrong approach angle to the water pump, and hangs free without support. I got the idea at thirdgen.org and I don't know how anybody ever came to a conclusion it was better than the LS1 hose, but it seems to be common advice.
Now somebody at thirdgen.org did nail it with the Cherokee hose. It is the correct diameter and bends around the idler bolts. The only reason it would hit the idler bolts is if the person didn't cut the hose short enough at the radiator. And isn't the F250 hose too large diameter and has to be squeezed really tight and often leaks?
I made a graphic since I'm better at that then working on my car.
I am going to trim a little more off the radiator side to pull it even a little further away from the idler bar.

My Ford hose fits better than the Cherokee hose. It was the right size on both ends as well. You cut off the flare part that is too big and it fits perfectly. I'll take a picture when I get back home.
The Cherokee hose will work fine I'm sure but it's not optimal. Plenty of people use it anyway. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Weather is whacky. The temp was in the mid 70's this weekend and it was absolutely perfect car working weather, especially after dark. Can you believe it is going to snow tomorrow??? |

.... And it did snow. Enough to cover everything in white. Looks like the garage will be cold again for a while. |

There are poor starving mechanics in India who don't even have a garage. So put on a cap and jacket or something and get to work.
Or just be Gabe and install your fuel pump in a carport in the snow while wearing a t-shirt and windbreaker like some sort of crazy he-man. |

That's a white guy driving. Although I do believe the exhaust was sourced locally. |
