Not....that.....kind...
Anyways. I picked up some cheap ass "leatherette" seats from work that some guy returned and so became even cheaper. It was a little over a hundred bucks for the pair. I adapted the stock brackets to them by just drilling through the sliders and screwing them into the seat. It still functions completely, just a little stiff from being so old. And they're too tall. Right now, If I put the top up my head sits against the canvas. They're a good 2" taller than stock so I'll have to make some custom brackets for it. Which I did some measure and it looks like I can do.
Well on to the pictures...

Don't ask me why I spent money on seats on not a third set of good looking doorpanels. The molded (GTA) style are hard to find in good shape. _________________

...I don't have rear seats.
I'm waiting till the roll bar goes in and then molding a speaker box to level out the backseat area. (just think one 12" in each seat area) |

Cool Ian those look good in there. I picked up a pair of those in tan and put them in the sled just before cows because I was sick of the worn leather on the GTA seats and didn't have the money to do the leather covers, or better yet, Corbeau CR1's. Still getting used to them.
Have you mounted them in there yet? I used my factory sliders. I bolted the slider to the rearmost bolt hole in the seat and then drilled for the front bolt as our sliders are much longer than the mounting holes on those seats. I had ordered the universal aluminum brackets from Summit but they weren't long enough. The seats sit about 1" higher than the factory... still getting used to it.
Go getcha some door panels now
btw, I plan on getting rid of my rear seats when I put a roll bar in as well. Are you fabbing up your own speaker box or have you found someone that does it?

the new seats look really good with the 4th gen interior
as far as door panels, i found this huge junk yard somewhere between Chehalis and Longview that might have them....i am planning to do a cruz down there in the near future to see what all they have. _________________

Schultz, for the box I'll just be laying down a lot of glass myself (yeah, it'll weigh more than it's worth). The seats are mounted in on the stock sliders and they are WAY too high. It'll be awhile till I get around to making my own brackets though.
turbo, when do you plan on heading down there? Maybe I'll have the day off and can come with you. I really doubt they'll have the molded GTA panels but it couldn't hurt. |

I'm looking at going down there before the end of the summer. I'm pretty much done replacing parts on the 85, just removing what i find unnecessary on it. But i am looking for performance parts to replace. _________________

NICE! Hey Ian, yup, that was me that passed you going the other way on Union a week or so ago. I was actually on my way over to Schucks to see if you were there, but then saw you headed towards the harbor so I kept rolling. I also saw your car a Schucks last Saturday morning while getting gas next door. Unfortunately, I was late for meeting the guys for the Camaro cruise-in in Federal Way (see TurboJimi's sig pic), so I didn't stop in to say hi. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

The day I passed you, you caught me off guard I'm not used to guys waving at me! |
