Hey,
I'm just looking to see if anything is available.
16" Wheels, pretty much anything execpt for the firebird aero style. something like GTA, IROC, 91-92 Z, etc.
if someone happened to have a set of 17's for a good deal, i might be interested in those also.
(I will add, I am pretty cheap ) _________________

I may take you up on that, if someone has a couple of fronts. Having just 2 doesn't do me a ton of good. |

If you try to put a rear wheel on the front, you'll find out that the wheels wont roll. Every time I get new tires, I tell the tire store they're different.. Every time they balance them all the same, then put the wrong ones up front.. go to back off and the front tires skid.. Luckily they havent broken anything yet. |

what exactly is an offset and why does it prevent the wheel from moving? cant you get wheels that are fully interchangable? _________________ 1990 Camaro RS, Black w/ Red Int, V6 3.1L, Auto, T-Tops. |

Shims are like 1/8th" and were made, from what I understand, to keep the wheels from sticking to drums or something of that nature.
I have the shims on my off my old car for the back, they don't do anything and with them on the front the wheels still rub. |

Shims were designed for the offset on the rear wheels only on iron drum brakes. Aluminum drums did not need them. 16 in rims were made front and rear only. If you had drum brakes on the rear you have the shims. They were also to help keep the rims from sticking to the drums.
Some say you don't need the shims. I figured for the small price for the shims I would rather be safe than sorry.
You don't put the shims on the front. And you can't put rear only rims on the front.

you can put the front rims on the rear though, imo it looks better with the offset that the fronts have. if i was going to do stock 16's i'd get two sets of fronts. _________________ 95 vw jetta gl
