lol does that mean i shouldn't of done that?

and it is deffantly running rich, it totally smeels like gas. when i plugged a paper clip into the aldl connector while drive the ecm said it was adding fuel to the mixture. the "field service mode" makes the light flash like getting the error codes.
Quote:
Field Service Mode

On the OBDI ECMs, you can jump 'A' and 'B' terminals on the ALDL while the engine is running.

WARNING! This must be done after the engine is running. This is called "Field Service Mode" and will not harm the ECM.

If the ECM is in Open-Loop mode, the SES light will flash rapidly, about 2½ times per second. If it's in Closed-Loop mode, it will flash about once per second. When in Closed Loop mode, flashing less than once per second indicates the ECM is enriching the mixture above the 128 count base line. Flashing more than once per second indicates the ECM is leaning the mixture below the 128 base line.

^-i thought that that meant that the ecm was detecting a problem and therefore "trying" to fix it be adding more fuel. when the BLM goes down that means the ecm is leaning it out? my spark plugs looked rich also. i replaced my spark plugs with a new set of autolites

i would also like to make sure that you know that i turned the throttle up 1 turn in order to keep the car running at stop lights. when it is running good, it will idle like 1100rpm in park, when it runs bad it is like 700-850 in park

It means if you worked the throttle... and had live data.... and the TPS voltage didn't change.... your TPS is dead.

This is odd because Gabe said that during the datalog the TPS was working.

Hook your datalogger back up, turn the ignition on (engine off) and work the throttle while watching the data readouts. It should smoothly move from about 0.54 to about 4.00~4.50 and back down. If it jumps, sticks, doesn't move, ect. it's borked.

The TPS definitely worked during the datalog.

It's kind of hard to tell how smooth it was since I wasn't there pushing the pedal or even watching his foot, but everything looked good.

alright that is a good way to test it. i did see that it changed a little bit while looking at my datalog but i also noticed that it wasnt changeing as much as it should.like some of the time i was accelerating or cruising above idle speed and it would just stay at .41v. if its the same as a 89 2.8 then i got a spare. i was gunna match them up tonight but i didn't get home till it was dark Sad

Standard lists the same sensor for pretty much all GM multi-port cars from '85-'89. In '90 the weatherpack changed.

That's why you need to check full range with live data or a DVOM and work the throttle like Aaron and I said. Not the datalog. Or if you datalog. Leave the engine off and just work the throttle smoothly to WOT and then smoothly back to idle and see if it jives.
