well not sure exactly what was wrong but i just ended up changin out the whole distro since all the other parts i was gonna check would have come out to a little less so figured do it all in one shot. ...

the book i have isnt very good at explaining how to test it. im not sure which wires to use to test as there are 3 sets of wires.
